Publication number: 20230306667Abstract: A robot design and control system including a procedural animation engine and a graphical animation editor that enable animators to author stylized walking gaits achievable by physical robotic characters, including bipedal robots of varying design. The animation engine generates dynamically feasible reference trajectories for omnidirectional walking given a desired walking velocity that may be input from a joystick or an artificial intelligence (AI) planner. This allows a legged robot to walk along an arbitrary path while expressing a custom animation “style,” e.g., a happy walk, a sneaky walk, or other manner of walking. The stylized walking motion or gait is generalized by the animation engine from a small number of animation samples that are defined at key walking velocities and tracked using a whole-body controller. The set of samples that are used as input to define a walking style is authored by an animator using the animation editor.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2022Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Michael Anthony Hopkins, Kyle Michael Cesare, Georg Wiedebach, Jared Edward Bishop

Publication number: 20220119053Abstract: A robot actor, or character mobility hardware platform, adapted to unleash or provide a wide variety of characters in the physical world. The robot actor enables the often screen-constrained characters to become life-like, interactive participants with nearby people in ways not presently achievable. The robot actor is an untethered, free-roaming robot that is has two (or more) legs, is adapted for high dexterity, is controlled and designed to be self-balancing, and, due to this combination of characteristics, the robot can provide characters with an illusion of life and, in many cases, in correct proportion and scale. The hardware and software of the robot actor will become a new generation of animatronic figures by providing a hardware platform capable of continuously evolving to become more capable through advances in controls and artificial intelligence (AI).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2021Publication date: April 21, 2022Inventors: SCOTT CHRISTOPHER LAVALLEY, KYLE ROBERT THOMPSON, MICHAEL ANTHONY HOPKINS, DEXTER J. DICKINSON, JARED EDWARD BISHOP, JERRY W. REES, KYLE MICHAEL CESARE

Patent number: 10868787Abstract: This disclosure relates to a method of recipient address selection, for example, for electronic mail (email). The method involves entering characters into a recipient address field to generate a recipient address list comprising recipient address options. A selection is received from a user for a recipient address in the recipient address list. After the user has selected a recipient address from the recipient address list, one or more rules are checked to determine whether they have been satisfied. The selected recipient address is entered into the recipient address field depending on if the one or more rules have been satisfied.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2019Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: TESSIAN LIMITEDInventors: Edward Bishop, Timothy Sadler, Thomas Adams, Johan Kestenare

Patent number: 10377510Abstract: Various enhanced rocket fairings and associated mechanisms are discussed herein for split fairings with two fairing halves. In some implementations, electrically-actuated base clamps are included to deploy the rocket fairing by applying a spring force between a corresponding fairing half and a payload adapter, which directs movement of the fairing halves upwards and away from the payload adapter until release of the fairing halves. In other implementations, electrically-actuated fairing mechanisms are included to hold together a first fairing half and a second fairing half, and separate the first fairing half from the second fairing half using a spring force. In further implementations, one fairing half includes a tab feature configured to overlap a second fairing half. The tab feature can deform inward under a pressure differential between an exterior and a payload envelope to reduce a gap between the two fairing halves.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2018Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Vector Launch Inc.Inventors: Brian James Riskas, Robert Duane Hill, Emerald James Adair, Kerry Michael Kugler, Richard William Dalgarno, Mark Edward Bishop, Robert Stewart Skillen

Patent number: 10270784Abstract: Systems, devices, software, and methods of the present invention enable users and owners/operators, such as employers, vendors, and other administrators to restrict the accessibility and use of applications residing on mobile and portable user devices, when those user devices are near or within a controlled area, such as non-residential and residential properties, and/or access a controlled network, either locally or remotely. The device management system may impose restrictions on one or more user devices that may include, for example, one or more of disabling applications, preventing applications from being enabled, deleting applications, limiting or preventing applications from being downloaded, and/or performing application inventories on the user device. When the user device is no longer in, on, and/or around their facilities and/or networks, the device management system may remove or impose the restrictions on the user device.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2018Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: CRUZEIRO ASSOCIATES, INC.Inventors: Eric Narges, Edward Bishop
