Edward Brumley has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 11791648
Abstract: Battery charging in a battery charging system (BCS) involves measuring an output voltage of a battery connected to the BCS and determining an output voltage type of the battery. The battery is also evaluated to determine a condition of the battery for accepting a charge. Based upon the evaluation the BCS performs can automatically initiate a charge cycle for the battery in accordance with the battery output voltage type which has been determined. The BCS can also trigger an indication that the battery is not in condition for accepting a charge. A range of output charging voltages is produced using a transformer, and a switch network.

  • Publication number: 20230068847
Abstract: System and methods for operating a portable device. The methods comprise: detecting, by a voltage monitor circuit, an output voltage of an external battery; providing a single output signal from the voltage monitor circuit to a function selector of the portable device, where the single output signal has a variable voltage value; and using, by the function selector, a current voltage level of the single output signal to determine whether the external battery is connected to the portable device and determine whether a reverse polarity connection exists between the external battery and the portable device.

  • Patent number: 11552484
Abstract: Systems/methods for operating a solar charger system. The system comprises: preventing, by a first circuit, damage to the solar charger system when a reverse polarity connection exists between a solar panel and the solar charger system; preventing, by a second circuit, damage to the solar charger system when a reverse polarity connection exists between the battery and the solar charger system; preventing, by a third circuit, damage to the battery when a temperature of a surrounding environment exceeds a pre-defined value while the battery is being charged by the solar charger system; and preventing, by a fourth circuit, back-feed from the battery without any voltage drop or loss while the battery is being charged by the solar charger system.

  • Patent number: 10866275
Abstract: An automatic test equipment (ATE) contactor adapter compatible with at least one test board. The contactor adapter includes a contactor adapter body having a first side and a second side. The contactor adapter body includes: 1) a first set of contact components disposed on the first side in an arrangement to contact conductive pads of the at least one test board; and 2) a second set of contact components disposed on the second side and coupled to the first set of contact points. The contactor adapter also includes an adapter interface disposed on the contactor adapter body. The adapter interface includes a third set of contact components coupled to the second set of contact components. The ATE contactor adapter is configured to convey signals between a device under test (DUT) and the at least one test board via the first, second, and third sets of contact components.
