Abstract: A daylight reloadable lighttight plastic cassette for holding and dispensing a roll of light sensitive material is formed of a hollow open-ended tubular housing having lighttightly mating hingedly connected base and lid sections which pivot apart on the hinge to open the housing, A dispensing slot lighttightly sealed, e.g. by plush fabric, is present on the housing side opposite the hinge, preferably defined between suitably spaced longitudinal edges of the housing sections. The opposite housing ends are lighttightly closed by end caps, each molded in two mating sections, which are telescopingly fitted on end margins of the housing sections. The end cap sections can be carried by the respective housing sections to pivot therewith in clam-shell fashion. The housing sections can be latched in closed position, preferably with latches engaging the end cap sections.

Abstract: A cassette for light-tightly holding and dispensing a roll of web material, e.g. photographic film, which has a peripheral dispensing slot in its shell for passage of the web therefrom, which slot is formed by generally radially directed re-entrant lips lined with light-sealing strips to seal the slot against penetration by light, the sealing strips being adhered to the mutually facing surfaces of the lips by layers of adhesive on their backsides, preferably a pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the innermost edge of each of the adhesive layers is in a radially outwardly retracted position relative to the innermost edge of the associated sealing strip, leaving a short inner marginal portion of the sealing strip free of adhesive and overlying the inner edge of the adhesive layer to conceal and shelter the adhesive edge against possible contact with the exiting web.

Abstract: A cylindrical core 1 for receiving windings of a photographic film web comprises a hub 3 having an axial re-entrant channel and an insert 4 fitting into and engaging shoulders 13, 16 of that channel to define with the channel a slot 26 for receiving an end of a film web 2. Cooperating detent elements 19, 25 are provided for resisting relative axial movement between the hub 3 and the insert 4 when the latter is inserted into the channel 11, and the insert 4 incorporates teeth 24 for engaging at least one marginal perforation of a film web to prevent circumferential slippage of the film web. The slot 26 is inclined obliquely from a radial direction, and the teeth 24 are located on the inner or lower wall thereof so that the film perforations are released from the teeth when the film end is tensioned at the end of unwinding.

Abstract: A light-tight cassette for a roll of light-sensitive photographic material, comprising a shell (11) of generally rectilinear sectional profile with a light-tight dispensing slot (15) defined between two lips, has a stiffening member (33) inserted between at least one lip (21) of the dispensing slot and the adjacent shell wall (19), for increasing the bending resistance of said lip and minimizing accidental light leakage through the slot.

Abstract: A light-tight cassette for photographic material, which has the form of a box (11) having wall portions (26,27) defining an exit slot (15) for material drawn from a roll (19). The exit slot has light-sealing means which is formed by cooperating flexible (31,32) lips, and generally rigid ribs (36,37) which limit the deflection of the lips. The box and the flexible lips are preferably made by the co-extrusion of suitable plastics. The cassette has the advantage that a satisfactory light-tightness of the dispenser slot can be obtained with very flexible lips, so that damage to the film by frictional contact with the lips is avoided while an effective light seal is assured for all paths of the material through the slot.

Abstract: A light-tight cassette (1) suitable for holding a roll of web-like light-sensitive photographic material (2) wound around a core (6) and for dispensing the photographic material through a slit (19) provided in the cassette which is in the form of a box comprising a hollow shell portion (3) whose wall at three of its corners is at least partly and locally realized as a double wall and two end closure walls (4, 5) which are secured to the shell portion (3) by perforations provided in the outer wall of the double wall portions of the shell and cooperating detent fingers on the end closure walls. The inner wall of the double wall portions of the shell prevents light from intruding into the cassette through perforations in the outer shell wall and makes the cassette perfectly light-tight.

Abstract: A light-tight cassette for holding and dispensing a roll of light-sensitive material and comprising an extrusion moulded shell or casing (11) and injection moulded end caps (12,13).Difficulties which may arise in fitting the end caps upon the ends of the shell are avoided by providing the inner face of the end caps with axially projecting corner tongues (26,27,28) shaped in a three-dimensional form having outwardly facing surfaces which are outwardly convexly curved both in radial planes passing through the axis of the hub portion (44) of the cap and in planes normal to said axis. These corner tongues fit inside corner regions of the shell and have a self-centering action when the caps and shell are pushed together in abaxial and/or relatively angularly skewed relationship.

The end caps have uniformly spaced outer and interior flanges forming a channel engaging the end margins of said body portion, said interior flange having along its corner portions extensions which have an axial dimension exceeding the axial dimension of the outer flange.
