  • Publication number: 20210025605
Abstract: The invention provides, in some aspects, a tabletop-based system to prevent pathogen transmission that includes a collection vent that collects airflow from a volumetric region above a tabletop, a filter that filters the collected airflow and that is in fluid coupling with the collection vent, an air mover that creates the airflow through the volumetric region to the vent, and one or more surfaces that define the region, where those surfaces include at least the tabletop. According to these aspects of the invention, the vent is disposed in a vicinity of at least one of the aforesaid surfaces and is elongate along an axis substantially aligned with a useable edge of the tabletop, i.e., an edge of the tabletop at which a person who is using the tabletop sits, kneels, stands or is otherwise disposed.

  • Patent number: 8539705
Abstract: A computing device with a keyboard and display is configurable to fold from a compact and protective pocket sized closed configuration to other computing configurations. An embodiment of the device includes dispersed or interspersed hinge mechanisms to enable a cross folding mechanism to configure the device to multiple configurations using only simple hinges. An embodiment of the device further unfolds to a fully flat configuration supported by interspersed feet. Keys of reduced aspect ratio can reduce the footprint of a folded device without reducing the key's sideways spacing. A rotating input pad can supplement the keyboard input without increasing the footprint of the folded pocked sized configuration.

  • Patent number: 8025064
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of treating a patient, comprising providing a compressible attenuation device that is moveable from a first, introduction configuration to a second, implanted configuration. The attenuation device is introduced into a treatment site. In one embodiment, the treatment site is a patient's eye. The volume of the attenuation devices changes in response to pressure changes in the treatment site and attenuates pressure changes in the eye.

  • Publication number: 20080273012
Abstract: A portable computing device includes pivoting and hinging mechanisms which enable its housing to reconfigure to function in multiple modes. In one configuration the device functions as a laptop computer with keyboard input. In another configuration the device folds into a compact, hand-held, pen-based computer. In another configuration the device folds around the display for protection during transport. A set of adjustable stops enable easy and repeatable transitions between the different configurations.

  • Patent number: 6682473
Abstract: Disclosed are pressure attenuators, for attenuating pressure changes in an anatomical structure. The attenuators are movable from a first, introduction configuration to a second, implanted configuration. When in the second, implanted configuration, the attenuator attenuates pressure spikes within the body by reversibly reducing in volume in response to the pressure spike. In one application, the attenuator is utilized to treat urinary tract dysfunctions. Deployment devices, retrieval devices, and methods are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20030012359
Abstract: A telephone (100) is configurable to automatically dial an area code selected from an area code selection pad (104). Once selected, the selected area code is automatically prepended to subsequent outgoing calls until a different area code is selected. A processor (212) implements a safety feature overrides the automated system when emergency numbers are called. With this system, repetitive dialing of the area code for consecutive calls to the same area code is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6211903
Abstract: A video telephone headset device includes a foundation which supports an image capture device, a support arm, and a convex mirror. When the foundation is held adjacent to a user's head, the support arm positions the convex mirror in a fixed position in front of the user's face. The mirror reflects the full facial image to the image capture device. This arrangement makes it possible to construct a video telephone headset which is simple and small in size yet able to capture the full face and facial expressions using very little bandwidth.
