  • Patent number: 10102108
Abstract: Techniques to instrument computer applications to receive run-time telemetry, and to perform analysis on collected telemetry are described. Telemetry instrumentation is injected into an application via an application migration tool. The migration tool generates source code corresponding to a target computing architecture. During the generation of source code, the migration tool injects code capable of sensing specified events and/or event categories and reporting telemetry to a data store. The data store may be queried and/or accessed to perform analysis to detect suboptimal instrumentation and/or application errors. Use cases may include the detection of performance, health, security and usability issues.

  • Patent number: 9195515
Abstract: A method for work load balancing in a cluster of servers including steps of: detecting a processing job that is ready to be executed; determining whether an insensitivity value is specified; determining a first server with a highest power rating from a plurality of servers; in response to determining that an insensitivity value is specified: determining a second server with a second highest power rating from the plurality of servers; determining whether a difference between the highest power rating of the first server and the second highest power rating of the second sever is less than a percentage indicated by the insensitivity value and whether the first server was selected to execute a most recent processing job. If so, the method includes the step of selecting the second server to execute the processing job. Further, a method for heuristic load balancing based on historic performance and load statistics.

  • Patent number: 4223442
Abstract: The invention is concerned with establishing the datum level of a lance or cartridge relative to the surface of a bath of molten metal in a metallurgical vessel. A voltage is applied to the movable lance or cartridge in such manner that contact of the lance or cartridge with the bath surface causes an earth leakage current to be established. Electrical circuitry is incorporated to open a circuit breaker upon flow of a predetermined earth leakage current and actuate an indication on a distance measuring device coupled to the movable lance or cartridge.
