  • Patent number: 4782428
Abstract: A collapsible fluorescent tube fixture comprises a frame having a pair of spaced apart tube end supports each carrying a row of sockets, each socket being for receiving electrodes of one end of a fluorescent tube, and a scissors assembly connected between the supports for permitting the supports to move together into a storage position and to accommodate various length tubes and apart into a use position. Fluorescent tubes can be engaged between the sockets of the two supports with the supports in their use position. A boom has one end connected to the scissors assembly and an opposite end which carries an electrical ballast. The ballast is electrically connected to the sockets and may serve not only to electrically ballast the fluorescent tube but also to mechanically balance the weight of the frame. A pivot clamp connected intermediate the ends of the boom can be used to mount the boom on a tripod or other support structure.

  • Patent number: 4777566
Abstract: A camera light arrangement includes a light having a rectangular housing and a cylindrical crown connected to the housing. An opening connects the interior of the housing to the interior of the crown. A light bulb support is held in the housing for supporting a light bulb through the opening. The crown comprises a plurality of coaxial rings which define at least one annular slot therebetween. An octogonal accessory frame is removably engaged to the slot and carries accessories, such as opposite pairs of barn door assemblies each comprising a pair of polygonal barn doors. Two of the barn doors are in the form of elongated rectangles which are each pivotably mounted at a single point and the remaining two of the barn doors are substantially triangular in shape and are pivotably mounted at separate locations to the frame. This permits the formation of rectangular openings and slot-shaped openings for light emanating from the crown.

  • Patent number: 4616384
Abstract: A clamp which can be used separately to connect two rod-like members together at any angular relationship, can be used in conjunction with a frame for connecting a frame supporting rod thereof to the rod of a tripod or other rod or post-like member. The clamp comprises two clamp plates pivotally connected to each other with opposite rod engaging ends, and a third plate rotatably mounted to one of the pivotally connected plates. A threaded rod extends through substantially aligned openings in the three plates and can be tightened to squeeze the three plates together. While a first rod-like member can be held between the pivotally connected plates, a second rod-like member can be held between the rotatable plate and the associated one of the pivotally mounted plates.

  • Patent number: 4544120
Abstract: A frame for supporting a light modifying sheet such as a flag, scrim, cucoloris, and the like, comprises a main rod having hinges at opposite ends thereof. A pair of sheet supporting rods are connected to the hinges for rotation by about 270.degree., in a common plane, about the main rod. The sheet supporting rods can thus be rotated from a storage position parallel to the main rod to an erected position substantially parallel to each other and perpendicular to the main rod. A pair of spaced clips are connected to each sheet supporting rod for releasably clipping a light modifying sheet between the erected sheet support rods. A further hinge is connected at an intermediate location on the main rod and at a spaced location from the exact center of the main rod. A frame supporting rod is connected to the additional hinge and pivotable about an axis which lies in the plane of rotation of the sheet supporting rods, with respect to the main rod.
