Abstract: A chin support holds an anesthetized patient's head in the proper position during surgery so that the unconscious patient's airway is held open. A pylon attaches to and extends up from the side of an operating table. A tether attaches to the top of the pylon and extends around the patient's chin to keep the patient's head tilted during surgery. The pylon is held in place against the operating table by the tension on the tether when the chin support is in use.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing the egress of anaesthetic gas from the open end of an anaesthesia tube during periods when the anaesthetic gas is flowing but it is not being administered to a patient. An obturator post is either solid or has an axial bore which communicates with an exhaust system. The obturator post slideably and sealably engages the open end of the anaesthesia tube. The obturator post may be either rigidly attached to a surface of the anaesthetist's machine, or held captive thereto by a chain.

Abstract: A tube especially useful in fiberoptic bronchoscopy has at one end an adapter which is provided with both means for connection to ventilating means and means for introduction of a fiberoptic bronchoscope and has at the other end a section of reduced external diameter provided with an inflatable cuff.

Abstract: Respiration apparatus, for anaesthetist's use, to minimize gas consumption by providing for a patient to rebreath deadspace gas (i.e. the gas previously present in the trachea, mouth and bronchial tree and which has not previously undergone change) comprises a housing enclosing an expansible container to which fresh gas is supplied by a fresh gas supply duct and also to the housing outside the container by way of a non-return valve which permits flow only from the respiration tube into the housing, adjustment means being provided to permit adjustment of the extent by which the container may expand.
