    Abstract: A flange joint system for SRF cavities. The flange joint system includes a set of high force spring clamps that produce high force on the simple flanges of Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities to squeeze conventional metallic seals. The system establishes the required vacuum and RF-tight seal with minimum particle contamination to the inside of the cavity assembly. The spring clamps are designed to stay within their elastic range while being forced open enough to mount over the flange pair. Upon release, the clamps have enough force to plastically deform metallic seal surfaces and continue to a new equilibrium sprung dimension where the flanges remain held against one another with enough preload such that normal handling will not break the seal.

    Abstract: The present invention utilizes the advantages provided by a portable, wearable timepiece such as an electronic wristwatch for integration with a security system and performing various functions as a result of the timekeeping integration. First, the control panel of the security system may be synchronized by the timepiece, either automatically or when selected by a user. Second, the timepiece may be programmed to send certain commands to the control panel at certain times, such as a command to arm the system at 11:00 PM every night. Third, the timepiece can be used to send commands to the control panel on detection of a button press, but only after a countdown delay specified by the user. This gives the user the ability to press a system arm command that would only be sent after a delay of, for example, 15 seconds.

The communication device (100) includes a signal quality detector (154) which detects when the communication device (100) is out-of-range of the transmitter 902, and a controller (108) which determines when the communication device (100) is out-of-range for a first predetermined period of time (726), generating an out-of-range confirmation signal (728). A first visual warning (214, 216, 222) is displayed on a display (128) and power to the receiver (104) is subsequently suspended by a power control circuit (154). Alternately, when out-of-range for a second predetermined period of time (722) less than the first period of time 726, an out-of-range notification signal (724) is generated.

    Abstract: Metallic coatings are vacuum deposited onto a substrate using more than one eposition method in a single vacuum deposition chamber without breaking vacuum between depositions by providing a vacuum deposition chamber with an RF sputter electrode, a chemical vapor deposition assembly spaced from the sputter electrode, and a substrate that can be rotated from beneath the RF sputter electrode to beneath the chemical vapor deposition assembly, then cleaning and degassing the substrate under vacuum in the deposition chamber, then positioning the substrate below the RF sputter electrode, backfilling the chamber with argon, and then sputter depositing a metal coating onto the substrate and then rotating the coated substrate to beneath the chemical vapor deposition assembly, vacuum pumping the chamber, delivering the material to be chemically vapor deposited to the substrate surface, and heating the substrate to the temperature required for the chemical vapor deposition reaction to take place.
