  • Patent number: 6494455
Abstract: A pole mounted basket and chain assembly for use with flying disc golf courses. A chain assembly is provided with a total of 24 chains located at spaced intervals around the pole, a first inner set of 12 and an outer set of 12. At the upper end each inner chain is attached to a support radially extending from the pole or post. At the lower end the inner chains are attached to a horizontal ring of links. A second outer set of chains attached to a second larger support mounted at the top of the pole extend vertically downward and are also attached to the horizontal ring at their lower ends. A basket is attached to the pole below the lower end of the chains with the pole passing through the center of the basket. Flying discs impacting the chains have their energy absorbed by the chains and the discs drop vertically into the basket.

  • Patent number: 4792143
Abstract: An entrapment assembly is provided for use in flying disc golf game. The entrapment assembly comprises an upright post and an upwardly opening basket mounted on the post. A circular support bracket is mounted on the post with a plurality of outside and inside chains mounted to the bracket. The outside chains extend downwardly and inwardly to their lower ends which are secured to a first loose ring surrounding the post within the basket. The inside chains extend downwardly and straight or outwardly to their lower ends which are secured to a second loose ring of larger diameter than the first ring so that the outside and inside chains cross at a point below the top of the basket. The outside and inside chains form a relatively dense energy absorbing medium in the path of a generally vertically oriented flying disc ensuring that the kinetic energy of the disc will be dissipated in the entrapment assembly, thereby causing the disc to call into the basket.

  • Patent number: 4461484
Abstract: An entrapment assembly for use in a flying disc golf game. The entrapment assembly in one of its embodiments comprises an upright post mounted in the ground. An upwardly opening basket is mounted on the post and a plurality of outside chains are mounted on the post so that the lower ends thereof extend into the basket. The outside chains serve to absorb kinetic energy from a disc thrown against the assembly and thereby reduces its forward velocity. A disc deflection surface, such as a group of inside chains, extend outwardly and upwardly from a location adjacent the top of the basket to deflect the disc toward the basket after it has impacted the outside chains to ensure that the disc is caught in the basket.

  • Patent number: 4039189
Abstract: An entrapment device is provided for use in a flying disc golf game, or the like, and which provides a structure for absorbing the kinetic energy of flying discs thrown at the device to arrest the forward motion of the discs, and to cause the discs to be caught by the device. The device in one of its embodiments constitutes a post mounted in the ground, a basket mounted on the post, and energy absorbing structure mounted on the post above the basket. When the flying disc is thrown in the direction of the post, so as to strike the energy absorption structure, the energy absorption structure acts as a cushion for the disc thereby arresting its forward motion, and it causes the disc to drop into the basket.

  • Patent number: 3959010
Abstract: There is disclosed a mobile cleaning unit which utilizes air vortexes to scour the surface of streets, pavement and the like and to remove finely subdivided debris therefrom. The vortexes are generated by a vacuum which is applied through a cleaning head bearing apertures of limited cross sectional area to provide a minimal air flow therethrough of at least about 200 cubic feet per minute per square inch of aperture area. The vacuum is at least about three, preferably at least five inches mercury beneath atmospheric pressure resulting in the development of a well defined air vortex at the inlet to each of the apertures of the cleaning head. The cleaning head is supported and moved across the surface to be cleaned at an elevation sufficient to place the base of the vortex on the work surface.
