Abstract: A self-supporting chopsticks utensil. In one aspect, the utensil includes: a base comprising: a first body having a first bottom surface; and a second body having a second bottom surface, the second body rotatably coupled to the first body, the first and second bottom surfaces collectively defining a support plane; a first elongated rod extending from the first body and terminating in a first distal portion; a second elongated rod extending from the second body and terminating in a second distal portion; and wherein the utensil is weighted to be self-standing so that when the support plane is positioned atop a substantially horizontal support surface, each of the first and second distal portions of the first and second rods are maintained a distance above the substantially horizontal support surface.
