  • Patent number: 4565208
Abstract: In a seismic actuated shut-off valve, a valve seat is placed between, and in communication with an inlet and outlet. A circular track is located above the valve seat and a plurality of balls ride in the track. A specifically shaped obstruction on the track causes a ball to leave the track at a predetermined seismic level, the ball falling onto the valve seat to shut off the gas flow through the valve. A reset rod can be extended through the valve seat in order to push the ball off of the valve seat and back onto the track in order to reopen the valve.
