The isothiazolones are useful as anti-retroviral agents, anti-inflammatory agents, and anti-atherosclerotic agents.

These compounds can be produced by oxidation of the corresponding amines with oxidizing agents capable of forming an N-oxide derivative. The compounds are parasiticidal agents useful in the treatment of schistosome infections.
