  • Patent number: 8127790
Abstract: An hydraulic valve has a body with an exterior surface, a longitudinal bore, and first and second fluid ports in communication with the bore wherein the first fluid port opens through the exterior surface. A band is wrapped in first and second layers around the exterior surface which layers extend over the opening of the first fluid port. The first layer has a plurality of apertures there through and overlaying the opening to provide a filter. The second layer has a flap that flexes in response to pressure to open and close the plurality of apertures thereby acting as a check valve. An actuator slides a spool within the bore thereby selectively connecting and disconnecting the first and second fluid ports.

  • Patent number: 7055549
Abstract: A hydraulic valve assembly is provided to activate and deactivate cylinder valves of a multi-cylinder engine. A plurality of electrohydraulic valves are loosely received in openings in a base plate which allows the relative positions of the valve to adjust automatically for dimensional irregularities as the assembly is installed on the engine. At the complete of that installation, elements of each electrohydraulic valve are clamped between the base plate and the engine to secure the valves in position. A flexible lead frame containing electrical conductors is secured to both the base plate and the electrohydraulic valves provides additional support while allowing movement of the valves with respect to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6966338
Abstract: An electrically operated valve controls the flow of oil to and from a device that activates and deactivates a cylinder of a multi-cylinder engine. A first valve seat is between an inlet and a workport connected to the device and a second valve seat is between the workport and an outlet. A valve element engages the first valve seat when a solenoid actuator is energized. The valve element and the first valve seat cooperate to allow air to bleed from the inlet through the valve upon starting the engine, but prevent the oil from flowing in that path unless the solenoid actuator is energized. In one version of the valve, the valve element engages the second valve seat when disengaged from the first valve seat. In a second version, another valve element engages the second valve seat when oil flows through the first valve seat.

  • Patent number: 6701959
Abstract: A valve has a body has a bore into which open an inlet, an outlet, and a workport. A first valve seat is between the inlet and the workport, and a second valve seat is between the outlet and work ports. A poppet slides within the bore and a spring biases the poppet toward the first valve seat. Pressure at the inlet acts on surfaces of the poppet producing opposing forces that respectively tend to move the poppet toward the first and second valve seats. Because of differing surface areas, the nominal inlet port pressure exerts a net force on the poppet which substantially counteracts the spring force. Thus a solenoid actuator needs only to produce a relatively small force to move the poppet away from the first valve seat into engagement with the second valve seat.

  • Patent number: 6640834
Abstract: A solenoid operated valve has a valve body with a plurality of ports and a spool slidable within the body to interconnect the ports in different combinations. A solenoid, which is coupled to drive the spool, has a coil wound on an annular bobbin with a tube of an electrically conductive, non-magnetic metal within the bobbin. A first pole piece extends into one end of the tube and a second pole piece extends into another end of the tube. A separate bushing is located in an aperture in each pole piece. Each bushing has a tubular body with a first end section that has a larger outer diameter than a second end section and the second end section that has a smaller inner diameter than the first end section. The solenoid further includes an armature that is slidably received in the bushings and engaging the spool.

  • Publication number: 20010003179
Abstract: A data processing system provides an interface with a securities exchange system over which securities are traded. The system allows a user to configure displays tailored for specific functions and to show displays for a particular security. The user may also view a display showing information about selected securities, monitor trade activity, participate in a trade, and report trades. In addition, a user may display information for a selected set of securities on a continuously updated basis and can easily select from a displayed list, a desired security and certain information and functions associated with the selected security.
