    Abstract: An improved smoking pipe comprising a bowl having a central generally cylindrical bore open at both ends of said bowl with a closable lid mounted on the top of said bowl and a stem projecting from the wall of said bowl and communicating with said central bore of said bowl, which allows the smoker to light the bottom of the load of tobacco and creates a natural updraft through the burning tobacco to cause complete combustion of the entire load of tobacco without the necessity of frequent relighting and preventing the accumulation of moisture, tar and the like within the pipe bowl.
