An example beacon device includes a memory, a communication interface, and a processor to execute instructions with respect to configuration information to control the communication interface and operation of the processor based on a mode in which the beacon device is set to operate, the processor to dynamically transition among a plurality of modes based on an operating condition of the beacon device and a communication received from at least one of the receiver or the controller. In certain examples, the plurality of modes includes a configuration mode and a broadcast mode. When in the configuration mode, the operation of the processor is to process the communication received from the controller to adjust the configuration information. When in the broadcast mode, the operation of the processor is to generate a beacon signal to transmit to at least one of the receiver or the controller via the communication interface.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for booting a computing device from a NAND flash memory. One apparatus includes a NAND memory device including a boot sector configured to store boot code and an FPGA including an internal memory in communication with the NAND memory device. The FPGA is configured to access the boot sector and load the boot code into the internal memory. A method for booting a computing device having a processor, an FPGA, and a NAND memory device including at least one sector storing boot code and a sector storing operational code includes the steps of the FPGA holding the processor in reset and accessing the boot sector. The FPGA also fetches the boot code from the boot sector and stores the boot code in its internal memory. Also disclosed are machine-readable mediums providing logic, which when executed by an FPGA, causes the FPGA to perform the method.

    Abstract: A wireless switch for a wireless network is disclosed herein. The wireless switch includes a housing for a number of electrical components and other elements. The wireless switch includes an integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) inside the housing, where the integrated UPS provides backup operating power to the components of the wireless switch as needed. The wireless switch can detect a failure condition of the primary power supply and, in response to the detected failure condition, activate the integrated UPS such that the wireless switch can seamlessly transition to its backup power supply without an interruption in service.
