  • Publication number: 20060135265
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for an improved automated version of a word game that incorporates game play methodology into a central controller and communicates game play information to the players through a game console that provides each player with an input pod for communication with the microprocessor. The microprocessor incorporates features including a timer, scoring system, random letter generator and a random element generator so as to increase ease of use and speed up game play. The microprocessor communicates information to the players through a variety of lights that are selectively illuminated as well as a self-contained speaker for communicating audible information to the players.

  • Patent number: 7053625
Abstract: A tracer material is embedded in a component of electrical equipment to detect excessive wear of the component when it is exposed to an electrical arc. As the component wears, the tracer material becomes exposed to the electrical arc and emits electromagnetic radiation, which is monitored continuously. The tracer material is selected so that it emits electromagnetic radiation when it is exposed to an electrical arc that is distinct from electromagnetic radiation emitted by any other parts of the component. A fluorescent tracer material may also be used.

  • Publication number: 20060074802
Abstract: A system and method for electronic processing of periodic payments such as rent payments is disclosed. Payer tenders an electronic payment through a server interface and funds are transferred to a clearing account. Payee reviews the incoming payments and may accept a payment, in which case, funds are transferred to payee, or reject it, in which case funds are returned to the payer.

  • Publication number: 20050279077
Abstract: The present invention is a gas turbine engine system containing a compressor stage, a pulse detonation stage, and a turbine stage. During operation of the engine system, compressed flow from the compressor stage is directed to at least one off-axis pulse detonation tube in the pulse detonation stage. The off-axis pulse detonation tube detonates a mixture containing the compressed flow and a fuel to create a detonation wave, which is routed to an inlet portion of a reverse flow turbine. The exhaust flow from the reverse flow turbine is then directed away from the engine through ducting.

  • Publication number: 20050162570
Abstract: A system, apparatus and/or method provides frequency response adjustment of an RF input filter of an RF tuner based on impedance of an antenna system that is providing reception of RF signals to the RF tuner. The frequency response adjustment is preferably accomplished dynamically and/or with respect to each frequency tuned. Particularly, the system, method and/or apparatus provides compensation at the RF tuner level for mistuning effects produced on the RF tuner by antenna system impedance presented at the antenna input that is other than a designed for impedance. Frequency response of an RF input filter for the RF tuner is electronically adjustable with an independent or semi-independent control voltage signal based on one or more measured parameters of a tuning frequency. Frequency response adjustment may include adjustment of a center frequency of the RF input filter bandpass frequency range and/or altering the bandpass frequency range of the RF input filter.

  • Publication number: 20040229464
Abstract: A CVD single crystal diamond material suitable for use in, or as, an optical device or element. It is suitable for use in a wide range of optical applications such as, for example, optical windows, laser windows, optical reflectors, optical refractors and gratings, and etalons. The CVD diamond material is produced by a CVD method in the presence of a controlled low level of nitrogen to control the development of crystal defects and thus achieve a diamond material having key characteristics for optical applications.
