  • Publication number: 20240000001
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing weeds from an aesthetic mulch garden using an autonomous battery-powered differential-wheeled robot is disclosed. The boundary of the domain of said aesthetic mulch garden is predefined by the user and said robot is confined to patrol within said domain. The robot searches for weeds using machine vision which seeks colorimetric contrast between weeds and mulch and undergoes a novel randomized reflective trajectory to patrol said domain. An independent collision avoidance system allows said robot to avoid interaction with non-weed objects. Said robot has a central processing unit (CPU) receiving input from said machine vision system which positions a device for weed extraction and controls said extraction. A built-in suction system and receptacle is incorporated in said robot to maintain the weed extraction device clean and ready for operation while storing extracted weeds for later disposal.

  • Patent number: 9926687
Abstract: A lock assembly (1) including a main body (4) and a protruding member (5). The protruding member (5) is biased to normally protrude outwardly of the main body (4) by a biasing component (6), which is formed of rubber or like material. An operating mechanism, operated by a key (9) effects movement of the protruding member (5) between a protruded or locked position, and, a withdrawn or unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 6196854
Abstract: The female part of an underwater electrical connector has inner and outer chambers containing non-conductive fluid. Each chamber has an opening sealed by a respective spring loaded ball in the unmated condition of the connector and by a contact pin of the male part in the mated condition of the connector. The balls are displaced transversely to the direction of movement of the contact pin to engage the contact socket and automatically re-seal the openings when the contact pin is withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 5648639
Abstract: An insulation piercing earthing ring for a gland termination to provide earth continuity between an electrically conductive gland body and an electrically conductive inner sleeve of an insulated cable or pipe has a flat annular washer for locating against the end of the cable or pipe with at least one contact finger extending from the periphery of the washer to surround the cable or pipe and terminating in an inwardly directed projection for piercing the insulation. The contact finger extends axially and radially outwards from the periphery of the washer in the undeformed free state and is deformed radially inwards by engagement with a tapered entry portion of the gland body causing the projection to pierce the insulation and contact the electrically conductive inner sleeve.
