  • Patent number: 6439512
Abstract: A control system utilizes hydraulic power only to control a fixed-wing aircraft horizontal stabilizer trim control surface with no electrical control devices except for a cockpit pilot/co-pilot initiated 3-position spring-centered toggle trim switch, a backup electrical motor and a standard electronic logic pilot interface. The toggle trim switch controls two solenoid valves which control the operation of a directional control valve. The control system also includes a hydraulic motor, a rate control valve, a blocking-bypass valve, a shutoff valve with an integrated position sensor and a gear set driving an acme threaded output shaft for elevating or lowering the horizontal stabilizer trim control surface on command by the pilot. The control system controls the horizontal stabilizer trim control surface angular displacement rate as a function of angular position by means of a mechanical feedback linkage between the spool of the rate control valve and the horizontal stabilizer trim control surface.

  • Publication number: 20020055079
Abstract: The invention describes a tubular burner consisting of a cylindrical tubular body initially open at either end into which a distributor component can be slidingly fitted. The tubular body is provided with rows of apertures over a narrow area of the uppermost surface thereof to give the burner a flame strip. The distributor is substantially the same axial length as the tubular burner body but of smaller cross-sectional dimension than said body allowing for sliding fitment of the distributor inside the burner body. In accordance with the invention, the distributor has a first tubular portion and a second extension portion which is effectively a continuation of the upper surface of said first tubular portion, and both the tubular portion and extension portion of the distributor are provided with axially aligned flanges on either aide having a number of perforations.

  • Patent number: 4249875
Abstract: A melt extrusion process and apparatus for producing a multiple-layered pipe (preferably of two or more thermoplastic resins) are disclosed. The process comprises extruding a cylindrical stream of thermoplastic material, converting the cylindrical stream to an annular stream, applying at least one inner annular layer of thermoplastic to the inner surface of the annular stream, applying at least one outer annular layer of thermoplastic material to the annular stream, and extruding the resultant multiple-layered annular stream. Apparatus for producing this pipe includes a modular pipe die having inside and outside laydown means, flow equalizing means within each of the inner and outer laydown means to obviate layer imperfections, and adjustable means to control the concentricity of the outer layers. The invention finds particular application in the production of a thermoplastic pipe having an intermediate expanded core.

  • Patent number: 3968274
Abstract: A process of forming a visible textural surface on a decorative acoustical panel having a fibrous body portion is disclosed herein. This process includes coating an exterior surface of the body with a film of hardening liquid, distributing individual granules of particulate material generally uniformly over a substantial portion of the exterior surface to provide a granular texture to the surface, and coating the granules with a film of hardening liquid, which film is insufficient to eliminate the granular texture but which adheres the granules to the exterior surface. Thereafter a part of the surface on which the liquid coated granules are located is indented. These indentations extend from the exterior surface and penetrate partway into the panel body to cause the displacement of part of the surface, thereby forming wall portions. These wall portions include some of the granules.
