  • Publication number: 20210387753
Abstract: A system for controlling an aerospace vehicle by exploiting the dihedral effect to control bank angle of the vehicle by modulating sideslip. The control system includes a closed feedback loop comprising an outer loop for producing a sideslip angle command to induce a roll moment through the dihedral effect to satisfy a bank angle command, and an inner loop for taking the sideslip angle command, and possibly an angle of attack command to produce control input for flightpath hardware controls. Flightpath control hardware include pairs of flaps arranged longitudinally along the leading and trailing edges of an aeroshell of an aerospace entry vehicle to control pitch for changing the angle of attack, and another pair of flaps arranged laterally to control yaw for changing the bank angle via the sideslip angle, and also moving mass along ribs to control pitch and yaw. Thrusters can be fired to induce roll.

  • Patent number: 10465355
Abstract: Methods, and apparatuses used in those methods, of countersinking injection tubing below the surface of a structure, such as pavement, so that injection tubing will not extend above the surface of the structure even after movement of the soil, for example, due to frost heave or shrink-swell. Some embodiments employ an injection tube extension and/or an injection tube advancer to countersink the injection tubing within the soil beneath a structure.

  • Patent number: 9988784
Abstract: A method and apparatus for rapidly constructing a structural pier comprising the steps of placing into a soil under a structure to be supported a casing having an inner diameter and an outer diameter, positioning an injection tube into the inner diameter of the casing, and injecting an expansive material into the casing. Optional perforations in the casing allow some of the expansive material to be ejected from the casing into the surrounding soil to create fingers or branches for the purpose of adding friction to the structural pier.

  • Patent number: 8931987
Abstract: A pickup truck cargo area separator is provided that operably divides the cargo area of a pickup truck into distinct segments using slidably adjustable members. A first member is positioned laterally across a pickup truck cargo area, while a second member slidably connects to the first member to form a T-shaped divider assembly. The T-shaped assembly separates the cargo area into three defined zones. The members are lengthwise adjustable using a telescoping construction and are lockable in a static state once deployed, wherein the members abut against the interior surfaces of the cargo area to remain in place during use. End caps positioned on the lateral member ensure a tight fitment thereof across the cargo bed, while the height of the members act as internal barriers within the cargo area for confining cargo items in specific zones during transport.

  • Publication number: 20050288115
Abstract: A bowling system comprises a pinspotter system including at least a sweep assembly and a braking system coupled thereto which provides a brake for the sweep assembly. The system further includes a plurality of sensors which sense parameters associated with the pinspotter system and the braking system. A centralized control system centralizes operational processes of the pinspotter system by receiving at least one input based on the sensed parameters from at least one of plurality of sensors and, in response to the at least one the input, produces at least one output signal to control operations of the pinspotter system.
