Abstract: A system that includes a graphical user interface that may be used to access information contained in a database is provided. The graphical user interface includes a matrix of icons that correspond to textual excerpts. A textual excerpt is displayed above the matrix and the displayed textual excerpt changes as a user moves a pointing device over the icons. The user may perform searches of character strings contained in the textual excerpts. The color of the icons that correspond to textual excerpts that satisfy the search request is different from the color of the remaining icons. The interface also allows the user to rapidly and efficiently perform searches to retrieve information from the database.

A combined project involvement module may also determine a combined degree of involvement that takes into account the contributions of substantially all project participants, which combined degree of involvement may be further employed when determining the social relationship. Abstract: A Monte Carlo simulation is performed based on a simulation model comprising a plurality of input variables and at least one output variable. The Monte Carlo simulation generates a large number of scenarios, each comprising random input values and resulting output values for the input and output variables. The input and output values for each scenario are stored in a suitable storage component. A plurality of icons, uniquely corresponding to and representative of at least a portion of the scenarios, are displayed in accordance with a displayed output variable. At least one of the displayed icons is selectable causing the underlying input and output values to be displayed. The icons may be displayed in a histogram form comprising a plurality of columns and, preferably, within each column, the corresponding icons may be sorted according to similarity of the input values for each icon to a plurality of target input values.
