  • Patent number: 4706093
Abstract: A monopulse tracking system utilizing at least two channels, each of which has a different spreading/despreading pseudo-random noise function associated therewith. In conjunction with a monopulse antenna, one of the channels is utilized to develop a sum signal and the other channel is utilized to develop a difference signal, which sum and difference signals are utilized in a phase detector to generate an error signal. Because different channels are utilized to develop the sum and difference signals, externally generated noise is uncorrelated in the phase detector and, therefore, biases caused by the noise are eliminated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 1984
Date of Patent: November 10, 1987
    Assignee: Motorola, Inc.
    Inventor: Edward J. Groth, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4494238
Abstract: A coherent communications link for simultaneously transmitting intelligence on a plurality of non-contiguous frequency channels by means of a plurality of coherent carrier signals which are connected to a single composite intermediate frequency signal upon reception by a fully coherent receiver. The local oscillator signals in the receiver are maintained coherent with respect to the transmitted carrier signals responsive to the composite IF signal while each of the local oscillator signals is adjusted to maintain coherence of each received carrier in the face of relatively long term drift due to thermal shifts, path effects and hardware drift.

  • Patent number: 4447907
Abstract: A spread spectrum modulator and a method therefor wherein a plurality of binary code generators each being at the same fraction of a desired modulation frequency and all being at equal relative phase angles are used to serially bi-phase modulate an unspread carrier signal.

  • Patent number: 4229741
Abstract: A control unit and a remote unit each including a transmitter and receiver with the remote unit transmitter and control unit receiver being synchronized first by means of a variable oscillator in the control unit and connected to the receiver in a closed loop, and the transmitter of the control unit and receiver of the remote unit being synchronized second by sensing errors between a received signal and the operating frequency of the receiver in the remote unit and transmitting the error signal back to the control unit by way of the previously synchronized transmitter/receiver for controlling the frequency of the transmitter in the control unit.
