  • Publication number: 20240156453
Abstract: In one aspect, a system for delivery of an implant to a targeted area of a subject, the system includes the implant includes a plurality of bioresorbable hyaluronan-based fibers and a plurality of non-resorbable fibers, a bone fastener configured to couple the implant to bone, a soft-tissue fastener configured to couple the implant to soft tissue, a soft-tissue fastener tool (SFT) configured to couple with and deliver the soft-tissue fastener through the implant and soft-tissue, a bone fastener tool (BFT) configured to couple with and deliver the bone fastener and the implant. The BFT may further be configured to facilitate positioning of at least a portion of the implant over the targeted area after delivery thereto, and a cannula having a cannula passage. The cannula passage may be configured to receive the BFT coupled with the bone fastener and implant therethrough to secure the implant about the targeted site.

  • Publication number: 20130197914
Abstract: A voice activated system for operating electronic devices in an environment includes a microphone for receiving a verbal command that requests the addition of a new voice command, a first processor, that is electrically connected to the microphone, for receiving a customized command input regarding a preexisting user for the voice activated system that should be associated with the new verbal command, input involving a new verbal command, and input involving a system command, where the first processor is then able to receive verbal input to recognize a user, a verbal command, and then determine an associated action, an appropriate command for that action and then generate an associated system command, and a second processor, in electronic communication with the first processor, and two or more electronic devices in an environment, where the second processor is capable of receiving the system command and operating the two or more devices.

  • Patent number: 7500295
Abstract: A yarn system, apparatus, and methods of reducing production loss or increasing production speed in a continuous yarn production process are provided. A yarn conveyor receives a bundle of yarn, an oven heats the yarn, and a yarn cooler cools the yarn exiting the oven to heat set the yarn. The conveyor carries the yarn through the oven and cooler. A counterband extends through the oven substantially parallel to and above the conveyor to abuttingly contact the yarn against the conveyor. The counterband is formed by hydrophobic fibers woven in a mesh pattern that form apertures to enhance flow of a heated fluid between the fibers. A cooling efficiency of the cooler is increased responsive to the hydrophobic fibers allowing the cooler to cool the yarn without moisture from the heated fluid being absorbed by the counterband.

  • Publication number: 20030221605
Abstract: A control system to control the descent of a seafaring vessel, such as a lifeboat, into water is disclosed herein. The control system, and an accompanying method, control the descent speed of the seafaring vessel to minimise the possibility of setback after splashdown, and thus increase the probability of a safe and orderly launch.
