  • Patent number: 10326261
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for concealing indoor wiring and cables while serving as architectural wall panels or adornments. In various embodiments, a system of architectural wall panels might include one or more architectural wall panels and a plurality of wall mounts that are removably securable to a wall. Each architectural wall panel might include a front face having a decorative or architectural pattern thereon, a rear face, and two or more mounting protrusions formed on a surface of the rear face. Each mounting protrusion and an adjacent mounting protrusion might form or define a vertical channel having a size through which cables can be disposed when the wall panel is mounted on the wall. The two or more mounting protrusions removably couple with two or more corresponding wall mounts that have been secured to the wall, thereby allowing the wall panel to mount on the wall.

  • Patent number: 10008814
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for muting a microphone of an electronic device. In various embodiments, a muting device might include a headphone jack and a muting circuit. The headphone jack might include first, second, third, and fourth contacts, the first contact including a left line output contact, the second contact including a right line output contact, the third contact including a ground contact, and a fourth contact including a microphone contact. The muting circuit simulates an external microphone being connected to the headphone jack, without the microphone contact being connected to any microphone. In particular, when the headphone jack of the muting device is connected to the headphone port of a user device, the muting circuit might send a signal to the user device indicating that an external microphone is communicatively coupled to the headphone jack, thereby causing the built-in microphone of the user device to be deactivated.

  • Patent number: 9554449
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for illuminating a portable space, which, in some cases, is based on passive infrared (“PIR”) detection. In some embodiments, a first device might detect presence of at least a portion of a user's body (e.g., a hand or face of the user, etc.). Based at least in part on detection of the presence of the at least a portion of the user's body, a second device might illuminate an interior space of a bag or other portable enclosure. In some cases, the first and second devices might be the same device, while, in other cases, the first and second devices might be separate yet communicatively coupled to each other (such as via wireless or wired connection). In some embodiments, the first device might include a passive infrared sensor or the like, while the second device might include light emitting diodes or the like.

  • Publication number: 20160363476
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing electronic weight measurement using a handheld apparatus (e.g., fishing net or other handheld apparatus, etc.). In some embodiments, the handheld apparatus might measure a raw signal weight of an item (e.g., fish or other suitable item), and might measure at least one of angle of tilt or angle of rotation of the item with respect to the handheld apparatus, and, in some cases, might also measure at least one of angle of tilt or angle of rotation of the item with reference to gravitational direction of the Earth. The handheld apparatus might calculate a processed signal weight of the item based at least in part on the measured angle of tilt and/or rotation of the item with respect to the at least one of the weight measurement sensor or the handle, and might display the processed signal weight of the item.

  • Patent number: 9260362
Abstract: A one-piece solid phase extraction article to be used in solid phase extraction analysis, a filtration funnel comprising the one piece solid phase extraction article, and a method of use of the article. The article, device and method provide for improved analysis of hexane extractable material by eliminating the standard use of polar solvents to pre-condition the sorbent materials. The one-piece solid phase extraction article comprises water wettable monomeric phase type sorptive material embedded within a porous matrix. The water wettable monolithic polymeric sorptive material may be a hydrophilic polymeric gel, such as functionalized C-18 sorbent material, and the porous matrix may be fibrous matric, such as a glass fiber. The one-piece solid phase extraction article may further comprise one or more pre-filtration layers which do not contain the sorptive particles.
