The procedure is performed as a total, immediate reconstruction, or on a delayed basis of reconstruction. The tissue flap is a free flap or a flap attached via a native vascular pedicle. Forces acting on the skin island yield enhanced nipple-areolar projection of the reconstructed-breast.
