  • Patent number: 4849606
Abstract: An open-ended tamper-resistant container has a flexible seal over the oven end. The tamper-resistant container is particularly suited for holding a volatile material for slow diffusion. The container has at least one free-standing rib which prevents downward pressure or squeezing on the flexible seal of the container which could otherwise rupture the seal and/or result in leakage of the material held in the container. The tamper-resistant container is suitable for independent use or use in conjunction with an electrically heated vapor dispensing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4320873
Abstract: A method for controlling the rate of evaporation or rate of release of a perfume from an absorbent substrate in a continuous action air freshener comprising incorporating into the perfume from 10 to 900% by weight based on the weight of the perfume of a vapor control agent selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants having an average of from 1 to 5 moles of ethylene oxide per molecule, a compound having the structure: ##STR1## wherein m and n are integers, the same or different, selected from 1 to 4, and R is an alkyl group having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms, a compound having the structure: ##STR2## wherein m and n are integers, the same or different, selected from 1 to 4, and R is an alkyl group having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof. The use of the above agents controls the rate of release of volatile perfumes from absorbent substrates so as to prevent the premature evaporation of the perfumes to provide acceptable product life.

  • Patent number: 4220281
Abstract: A dispenser for vapors characterized by an upstanding enclosure made of folded flexible sheet stock and having two upstanding opposed primary dispensing walls, one or more structural members within the enclosure to provide reinforcing dimensional stability between the primary walls and releasably holding a vaporizable composition, and air flow channels from one dispensing wall to the other. Preferred embodiments relate to variations in the structural member(s), the specific materials used, a barrier used to prevent loss of vaporizable composition by wicking and an impermeable film tightly wrapped therearound. The invention can be used for dispensing air fresheners, insecticides, and other air-treating vapors.
