  • Patent number: 6301728
Abstract: A quick-install assembly for a single control faucet connected to water supply lines that extend through an opening in a deck to which the faucet is mounted, which assembly has a collar of larger diameter than the diameter of the opening of the deck and positioned from above the deck to be disposed at the opening of the deck. The collar has a pair of ears formed thereon that extend over the opening in the deck. A pair of fasteners are operatively engaged from above the deck to be threadedly connected to the ears to be disposed from above through the opening of the deck. A retainer is threadedly connected to the fasteners and includes a pair of swing flaps thereon adapted to be axially shifted toward and away from the collar responsive to the direction of rotation of the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4932126
Abstract: A hand held trimmer for cutting heavy vegetation such as hedges or the like is disclosed. The trimmer includes a handle having a centrally disposed hand grip thereon. The handle includes mounting means for a conventional cutting means at one end and a convention motor at the other. The trimmer cutting means and trimmer motor are preferably disposed at substantially opposite ends of the handle such that the weight of one substantially counterbalances the weight of the other. A resilient drive shaft means is disposed within the handle and extends between the motor to the reciprocating blade drive means so as to substantially avoid damaging the motor and the drive means should the trimmer reciprocating blades become temporarily jammed during operation.

  • Patent number: 4860451
Abstract: A string trimmer which can be operated with one hand is disclosed. A drive motor is disposed at an upper end of the string trimmer and is connected to a string trimmer head through a flexible drive system disposed in a tubular housing between a motor housing and a trimmer head or spindle housing. A handle is provided which extends forwardly and slightly inclined downwardly from the motor housing and is suitably elongated and positioned so as to allow users of different heights to conveniently hold and operate the trimmer, usually with one hand. A detachable assist handle can be pivotally attached to the handle/motor housing structure to facilitate lifting and guiding the string trimmer.

  • Patent number: 4644606
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an internal combustion engine-powered, blower/vacuum device. The device has an air chamber with an axial air inlet and a tangential air outlet. The engine rotatably drives the impeller, and is controlled by a throttle. A handle is located above the air chamber and the motor, and includes a first section having an axis generally parallel to the axis of the air outlet, and an adjoining section having an axis which extends at an angle of about 15.degree. to 60.degree. to the first section. When the first section of the handle is gripped by an operator the device will be in the vacuum position with the air outlet in a generally horizontal position. When the second section of the handle is gripped, the device will be in the blower position with the air outlet facing ahead of the operator at a downward angle. The impeller and housing of the device is designed to minimize debris hangup within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4595148
Abstract: A comminuting apparatus for garden waste consists of a cutter support plate rotating about a vertical axis in a cutter housing provided with a laterally directed outlet channel. The support plate includes cutting slots and slicing cutters thereabove. The support plate further includes at least one dependent discharge blade located on the underside thereof. At least one spiral deflecting vane is mounted on the cutter housing beneath the support plate. Upon rotation of the cutter support, the cutting slots and slicing cutters cooperate to direct comminuted material downwardly through the support plate, while the dependent discharge blade and the spiral deflecting vane cooperate to force comminuted material out through the laterally directed outlet channel.

  • Patent number: 4583291
Abstract: An improved speed reduction drive for an electric chain saw is disclosed. The speed reduction drive comprises a first rotatable member directly driven by the drive shaft of the electric motor for rotation therewith. A second rotatable member is connected to the drive sprocket for the cutter chain for rotation in the same direction. At least one endless drive loop drivingly connects the first and second rotatable members for rotation in the same direction, whereby rotational inertia of the electric motor opposes "kickback" of the chain saw.

  • Patent number: 4227601
Abstract: A centrifugal clutch assembly having a resilient restraining means for providing a radially inwardly directed restraining bias to each of a plurality of clutch shoe members is disclosed. The restraining means comprises a coiled spring member circumferentially surrounding and in contact with each clutch shoe member and a rod spring member extending substantially a complete extent of and enclosed within the coil spring member. A coil spring member and the rod spring member each contribute to the radially inwardly directed bias whereby the idle range of the clutch mechanism is increased over the use of either spring member by itself. In this way, overstressing of a spring member is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4127090
Abstract: An idle speed control mounted on the body of a carburetor for controlling the idle speed of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. In a first condition, the throttle plate is maintained in a position to provide a "normal" idle speed and in a second condition a fixed engagement between the stop means and the throttle plate provides a fast "start-up" idle condition. In a preferred embodiment in the first condition, the throttle plate engages the stop means and the engagement is variably adjustable to vary the "normal" idle speed. The engagement of the throttle plate with stop means in the second condition is stable but may be released by movement of a throttle trigger.
