  • Patent number: 4075824
Abstract: A self-propelled combine has a mobile body with a forward inlet, a forward transversely elongated harvesting header, and a feeder housing extending between the header and the inlet for feeding crop material from the header to a crop treating mechanism in the combine body. The feeder housing has an upwardly and rearwardly inclined floor with a chain and slat type conveyor mounted in the housing and having a lower run moving upwardly and rearwardly above the floor. A flat pan-like crop deflecting member is mounted on top of the floor underneath the conveyor and includes a plurality of generally fore and aft vanes that extend a substantial portion of the length of the floor.

  • Patent number: 4060960
Abstract: A self-propelled crop harvester has opposite upright frame sides in truss form with horizontal frame members extending between them. A grain tank in saddle configuration straddles crop processing means and an engine, and sections of the walls of the saddle portions of the tank serve as the center bays of the truss frame sides. The saddle portions of the tank are also structurally connected at their lower extremities to the housing of a transverse auger conveyor which transfers grain from one saddle portion of the tank to the other. In addition to its conveyor function, the housing serves as a horizontal frame member. The transverse conveyor housing, and the front and rear axle assemblies which interconnect the frame sides at their forward and rearward ends respectively, all have substantial torsion strength. The principal functional units of the harvester are self contained, and pinned joints are used to facilitate their assembly to and removal from the harvester as modular units.

  • Patent number: 4037745
Abstract: In a two-stage combine grain tank unloading system, grain is conveyed upward by a generally upright but forwardly inclined auger conveyor, through a transition housing into a generally horizontal unloading auger conveyor, which can be swingably adjusted, to discharge the grain away from the side of the combine, in a range of positions called an unloading zone. The unloading auger conveyor is rigidly attached to the transition housing which is free to swivel on a ring surrounding the upper end of the upright auger conveyor housing. The drive for the horizontal unloading auger is taken from the upright auger through a bevel gear case mounted partly within the transition housing.

  • Patent number: 3982384
Abstract: A self-propelled combine has a forwardly extending housing with a row crop header mounted on the front end of the housing. The header has a transversely elongated frame, a transversely elongated floor, a transverse auger immediately above the floor for converging the crop laterally along the floor and discharging it rearwardly into the combine crop feeding housing, and a plurality of transversely spaced row units mounted on and extending forwardly from the header frame, each row unit being adapted to sever the crop standing in a row as the machine advances and discharge the crop rearwardly onto the header floor forwardly of and below the auger. Each row unit has a forwardly and downwardly inclined frame, with a top surface and a central fore and aft trough, which forms the bottom of a fore and aft passageway.
