Patent number: 5110469Abstract: A coffee grounds disposal and strainer arrangement adapted to be utilized in conjunction with the operation of an automatic coffee brewer. A lid member covering the receptacle receiving the hot liquid or water and entrained spent coffee grounds from the coffee brewer is equipped with a plurality of venting apertures which will allow steam generated by the hot liquid in the receptacle channel to escape upwardly through the apertures. A U-shaped channel structure is formed on the upper ends of the receptacle sidewalls receives the lid flange. Hereby, any condensate liquid flowing down the flange from the inside of the lid member, which condensate is formed from steam emanating from the hot liquid in the receptacle will tend to collect in the U-shaped channel intermediate the lid member and the receptacle, thereby preventing such liquid or water from flowing outwardly and down the receptacle onto the table or counter top.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1990Date of Patent: May 5, 1992Assignee: Kraft General Foods, Inc.Inventors: Edward A. Kozloski, Eric Seger, Walter E. Howard, James R. Weldon

Patent number: 5078289Abstract: A container for a flowable product, such as liquid coffee or the like, having a measuring cup closure. The container neck is preferably closed by an inner seal and has secured thereto the lower portion of a surrounding ring member. An upper portion of this ring member telescopically and lockably receives therein the open end of a measuring cup. An internal flange of the ring member includes a bottom surface which seals against the neck edge and the upper portion includes a circumferential bead which forms a seal with the outside of the open end of the measuring cup.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Kraft General Foods, Inc.Inventors: Stewart L. Patent number: 4568005Abstract: Plastic dispensing closures adapted for use on bottles containing products such as syrup and the like and which have an integral handle include a snap-on base adapted to be securely attached to the neck of the bottle and shaped to form a pouring spout, and a pivotal lidi based into engagement with the base, the lid having a thumb-engagable extension positioned adjacent to the handle to facilitate opening and closing of the lid. The closures include a non-releasable tear-away inner seal connected to a pull ring, and are attached to the bottle such that they cannot be removed without being permanently deformed, thereby affording a tamper-evident closure. The closures are capable of accommodating a rather large dimensional bottle tolerance, thereby enabling them to be employed on plastic as well as glass bottles. The closures may be formed as either one-piece or two-piece structures.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1983Date of Patent: February 4, 1986Assignee: General Foods CorporationInventors: Charles M.
