  • Patent number: 5250789
Abstract: A shopping display system for organizing a shopping list in accordance with the locations of products in a store and for displaying promotions in response to a product being scanned by a product scanner. The shopping list may be generated with the assistance of a cash register tape bearing the product bar codes associated with the purchased products. The product scanner is mounted on a shopping cart so that promotions are issued in response to the products while the shopper is in the middle of the shopping visit. This system includes a display mounted on the shopping cart and a product code scanner. The system may also be provided with a disk drive, keypad and wireless communications.

  • Patent number: 5109153
Abstract: Voidable articles are made with an identification code and a radiant energy responsive material coated over said code. The material is invisible and remains unactivated in ambient light but obscures the identification code upon being exposed to radiant energies such as heat or light from within a particular wavelength range. Printing can be accomplished by imaging light onto a substrate coated with photosensitive material including an infrared absorbing dye. A cancellation device for voiding documents of the present invention is made with a scanner, a comparator and a radiant energy source for exposing the document to activate the energy responsive material on the document.

  • Patent number: 4791281
Abstract: A system for processing coupons, documents, or the like including the assembling multiple encoding and decoding of coupons, or other documents requiring coding for the purpose of making the coupon uniquely identifiable and traceable. A machine encodes individual coupons or booklets or other documents with a unique code, a subsequent machine reads the encoded coupon or booklet of coupons and applies additional information such as a person's name and address, and another unique code to the coupon, coupon booklet or the like, and records all of this data in a computer master data base. The coupons, coupon booklets, or the like, are then issued to the person whose name appears on the document. After presentation of the coupon it is then decoded and compared to the master data base to validate it or cancel it, and can be stored for demographic or geographic analysis in the master data base.

  • Patent number: 4066251
Abstract: A continuous business form including a series of connected blanks, adapted to be subsequently processed into combination mailing envelopes and return envelopes having common back ply panels, is produced from a first endless web having at least two panels spanning the width thereof, wherein one panel defines the front ply panel of the mailing envelope and the other panel defines a back ply panel common to both the mailing envelope and the return envelope. A second endless web defining the front ply panel of the return envelope approximates the width of and is disposed in direct overlying relationship with the back ply panel and marginally secured thereto, forming a return envelope pocket, completing the series of interconnected blanks. A third endless web defining inserts adapted to receive original, directly applied indicia is subsequently disposed in direct overlying relationship with the front ply panel of the return envelope and secured to marginal portions thereof.

  • Patent number: 4039122
Abstract: A continuous business form which includes a series of connected blanks adapted to be subsequently processed into multi-ply lottery tickets, envelopes or like articles, is produced from an endless web of sheet material. Each blank is developed from an odd number of continuous panels which span the width of the web wherein adjacent, non-abutting panels define the various plies of each article, and wherein one surface of certain of the nonabutting panels is provided with an adhesive which is not activated for adhering to other panels of the form until after original indicia has been applied to the non-abutting panels which are thereafter superposed in overlying relationship for producing the continuous series of multi-ply forms wherein each ply contains original, directly applied indicia.

  • Patent number: 4033611
Abstract: A multi-ply lottery ticket or like article is formed from a single sheet of material transversely accordion folded into a set of three contiguous panels disposed in registered zig-zag relationship. The articles are formed from an endless web of sheet material transversely subdivided into a series of connected blanks each of which is transversely trisected into a set of three contiguous panels spanning the full width of the web, wherein portions of each surface of the web are provided with adhesive which is not activated for adhering to other panels until after original indicia has been applied to an upper surface of at least one panel of each blank. Thereafter, each set of panels is accordion folded into registered zig-zag relationship, abutting panels permanently bonded to one another, producing the continuous series of multi-ply tickets or like articles.
