  • Patent number: 3945839
Abstract: A new refractory material has been prepared comprising 70 to 96% alumina, 3 to 20% iron chromite ore, and 1 to 10% of a phosphate compound, calculated as P.sub.2 O.sub.5.The new refractory material is prepared by admixing 70% to 96% alumina, 3% to 20% iron chromite ore, and 1% to 10% of a phosphate compound selected from the group consisting of aluminium phosphate and phosphoric acid, said phosphate compound calculated at P.sub.2 O.sub.5, and firing the mixture to form the refractory product. This new refractory material has a low porosity, high bulk density and modulus of rupture.
