    Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated outlet that allows supply of AC power to an outlet receptacle when certain conditions are satisfied. The integrated outlet contains separate modules establish electrical connection with electrical conductors that transmit AC and DC power, telecommunications, control communications, and signals transmitted along a coaxial wire. In a preferred embodiment, these electrical conductors are all disposed on a single ribbon cable. Each module within the integrated outlet can attach to only certain conductors to increase safety in the resulting system.

    Abstract: A communications distribution interface unit assembly is mountable to an appropriate frame behind an opening in a wall panel, for instance. A unitary cover is adapted for mounting to the frame and includes a front face, a rear face, and a perimeter wall alignable with the opening in the wall panel. The cover includes integral structural support ribs rigidifying the cover in a direction generally perpendicular to the wall panel. At least one communications module is mountable to the rear of the cover. The module includes at least one connector exposed at the rear of the assembly for easy access thereto. The entire communications module assembly can be preassembled and, thereafter, mounted to the frame behind the opening in the wall panel.

    Abstract: An improved ribbon cable connector is described for providing connection between an electrical device and a ribbon cable. Receptacle modules and a splice module having identical outer dimensions are provided for insertion into the cover of a receptacle tap. Each receptacle module contains receptacle sites for insertion of pins from an electrical device. Each receptacle site of the receptacle module is connected to an insulator displacement pin that is used to establish a connection with a conductor of a ribbon cable. A splice module connects pairs of insulator displacement pins together so that two different ribbon cables can be connected together in an efficient manner. Alignment projections on both the receptacle and splice modules allow for precise positioning of the insulator displacement pins within each module with the conductors of the ribbon cable.

    Abstract: The present invention provides two ribbon cable for conducting AC power and digital data signals respectively. A pliable insulating material holds together and electrically insulates the conductors on each ribbon cable. Conductive material, such as a conductive foil or conductive plastic serves to shield the electromagnetic interference generated by the transmitted AC power from the data conductors. The ribbon cables are folded in a protective outer jacket so that the conductive material is disposed substantially between the power conductors and the data conductors. This maximizes the electromagnetic interference shielding of the conductive material.

    Abstract: A remote control power disconnect circuit for providing a ground fault across an electrical outlet when an unsafe condition such as a lost neutral or shorting of the AC power switch is detected. The remote control power disconnect circuit is placed at each electrical outlet within a dwelling and applies AC power to the outlet only when an appliance (load) is plugged into the outlet and no fault condition is detected. However, when a fault condition is detected, the circuit also functions to apply a ground fault across the outlet and to shut-off the supply of AC power to the outlet. Then, once the fault condition has been remedied, the circuit may be remotely reset so that AC power may again be applied to the electrical outlet.

    Abstract: An electronic thermostat for controlling multiple temperature altering apparatus of an animal enclosure or the like employs a linear sensor comprised of an elongate black body, tubular probe containing a semiconductor active element of a current source which produces a sensor current that varies linearly with changes in temperature. A voltage divider to produce a plurality of temperature sensor signals which are used to produce primary of override actuation signals. The set temperature signal is selectable between two set point limits which are selectively variable to calibrate different scales. A plurality of detectors respectively compare the plurality of sensor signals with a common set temperature reference signal to produce a plurality of detection signals at a plurality of preselected temperatures associated therewith.

    Abstract: A current monitoring circuit of a ground fault detector which receives its input from the secondary winding of an annular core transformer through which extends the current carrying leads being monitored. A resistor and capacitor are connected in series between the secondary winding and an AC amplifier to form an RLC band pass filter to minimize the circuits sensitivity to noise outside of the band of frequencies of interest. The sensitivity of the circuit to temperature changes due to fluctuations of the inductance is reduced by choosing an inductance value sufficiently high to ensure that it is not reduced to below a critical level at which sensitivity is effected.

    Abstract: This disclosure depicts a ductile metallic electrical and mechanical connector for attachment to one or more electrical cables and formable by a compressible process. The connector comprises at least one bifurcated body member having first and second leg portions initially connected by a reduced cross-sectional thickness portion of the body member to provide a plastically flowable hinge connection. The first and second leg portions define an initial predetermined angle such that the body member can laterally engage an uninsulated section of an electrical cable. The first leg has on the end opposite the reduced thickness portion an axially extending rib member and axially extending inner and outer ridges disposed on either side of the rib member. The second leg has on the end opposite the reduced thickness portion axially extending inner and outer fingers.
