  • Patent number: 4954223
Abstract: A distillation apparatus including a pair of vertical lower vessels each open at its upper end, and a pair of elongate upper vessels each having an open lower end, slidably mounted in a respective one of the lower vessels. A heat exchanger is mounted in each of the upper vessels, with the upper end of one upper vessel being connected to the inlet of the heat exchanger in the other vessel, and vice versa. A reciprocating drive mechanism drives the two upper vessels up and down in opposite directions so as to simultaneously effect compression in the space above the liquid level in the downwardly moving vessel while expanding the space above the liquid in the other vessel, driving vapor from the downwardly moving vessel into the heat exchanger in the other vessel, where it condenses.

  • Patent number: 4130305
Abstract: A pipe connector for gripping pipes which are pushed into the ends of the connector. A hinged locking member is supported in each end of the connector by a releasable clamp, the locking member having a spring biased hinged bar element which extends diametrically and jams across the inside of the pipe when the pipe is pulled out very slightly. The locking members are attached to the clamp at the axis of the connector, so that the pipes can be rotated axially while held in place. When the clamp is released the locking members are loosened or fall free inside the connector and allow the pipes to be removed.

  • Patent number: 3965365
Abstract: A power generating machine which is actuated by the continuous swells occurring in the ocean. The machine is supported on a pair of spaced main floats, between which is a power float connected to a linkage which allows the power float to reciprocate vertically with the passing swells. A flywheel is driven through a one way clutch connected to the float linkage to drive an electrical generator, the linkage also being coupled to an air compressor. Sensing floats pivotally attached to the main float support structure detect the contour of the swells and, through associated drive means, cause the spacing of the main floats to be adjusted to the existing swells crest spacing for maximum efficiency.

  • Patent number: 3952575
Abstract: Apparatus for forming circumferential corrugations in a thin wall tube to produce a cylindrical bellows. The tube is supported on a rigid sleeve to prevent distortion, but is free to move axially as each corrugation is formed by an expanding mandrel which extends through a circumferential channel in the sleeve to form a complete ring. The mandrel is composed of interfitting wedge elements, alternate elements of which move radially more than the others to accommodate the expansion and contraction, a common multiple cam actuator providing the driving force on all elements simultaneously.
