  • Patent number: 8701363
Abstract: The specification discloses a window or door, and glazing assemblies therefor, wherein the glazing assemblies include a first pane of glass with an exterior surface coated with a smooth, hardened silica-containing coating, and an opposite surface coated with at least one layer of a low emissivity coating. In one embodiment, a second pane of glass is joined to and spaced from the first pane of glass by a polymeric spacer. In a second embodiment, a third pane of glass is laminated to the second pane, and in a third embodiment, a third pane of glass coated on its interior surface with a low emissivity coating is joined to and spaced from the second pane by a polymeric spacer.

  • Publication number: 20110005153
Abstract: An improved window and trim assembly that facilitates quick and easy installation of a trim assembly on a window includes a window or door unit having a casing that defines a plurality of clip receiving grooves, a plurality of resilient clips receivable in the clip receiving grooves, and a pre-assembled trim cover retained on the window or door unit by the resilient clips. Attachment of the exterior trim cover to the window or door unit involves inserting clips into the grooves and pushing the cover onto the window or door unit until features on the trim cover engage the clips.

  • Patent number: 5088258
Abstract: An improved insulating spacer assembly for reducing heat transfer between panes of an insulated glazing unit comprises an extruded or roll-formed hollow metal spacer together with thermal breaks and primary sealant. The spacer and thermal breaks are preferably coextruded together, with the thermal breaks being extruded along the upper third portion of the spacer sidewalls, lengthwise along the spacer sidewall. The primary sealant is extruded along the middle third of the spacer sidewalls, parallel to and in cohering relationship to the thermal breaks. The invention also provides insulated glazing units wherein the spacer assembly is sandwiched between two glass panes to provide an exterior channel which is filled with a secondary sealant composition which also covers the exposed edges of the glass panes.

  • Patent number: 5022206
Abstract: An entry door system constructed of panels having a metal skin filled with insulating rigid foam core and having a unique wood facing and whereby the system has exceptional insulating qualities while projecting the beauty of a wood door. The system includes door and side panel components of substantially the same construction, except for the size, and provides for a versatile arrangement of panel components which in different selected combinations can be secured together into a single unit ready to be installed. The wood facing of the core filled panels includes wood stile and rail facing pieces and one or more raised panel subassemblies comprising a base panel to which is secured a raised panel with decorative wooden beads located at their perimeters which creates a wood picture frame look on the outer surfaces of the panels.
