  • Publication number: 20210187104
Abstract: The present application relates to an adjuvant which is suitable to be used in vaccines or other immunogenic compositions. Specifically, the adjuvant promotes the induction of interleukin-1 (IL-1), type 1 interferons (IFNs), such as IFN?, and IFN?, type 2 interferons, such as IFN? and/or tumour necrosis factor (TNF) response, such as TNF?, and elicits or enhances an immune response, preferably in neonatal, juvenile or paediatric animal and/or human populations.

  • Publication number: 20050169938
Abstract: The invention provides a method of increasing an immune response in a mammal. The method involves administering to the mammal an admixture comprising an immunogen and a plant lectin. The plant lectin acts as an adjuvant to increase an immune response against the immunogen. The method is especially well-suited for mucosal administration to humans and other mammals.

  • Patent number: 6550515
Abstract: A dispensing apparatus is provided for dispensing a masking apron of the type including a sheet of apron material having a strip of adhesive tape overlapping along one side thereof. The apparatus generally includes a frame structure which supports a shaft having plural longitudinal sections mounted end to end along a vertical axis. Each longitudinal section is arranged to mount a corresponding roll of apron material thereon while remaining selectively separable from adjacent longitudinal sections to simplify the task of replacing a lowermost roll on the shaft. An elongate cutting blade is provided which extends at an angle offset from the shaft for providing a gradual cutting edge to cut the dispensed masking apron from the dispensing apparatus. A retainer member which is biased inwardly towards the shaft is provided for securing the roll of apron material between the shaft and the corresponding retainer member.

  • Patent number: 6400315
Abstract: A control system for maximizing performance of an electronically scanned, mechanically augmented phased array (MAPA) antenna. In one preferred form, the control system forms a closed loop system which monitors a signal quality of the received signal from a primary signal source such as a primary satellite, and generates motor control signals for controlling a motor used to rotate the MAPA antenna about an axis so as to point the antenna at least slightly away from the primary signal source while electronically steering the antenna to track the primary signal source. The MAPA antenna is positioned so as to maximize the carrier-to-noise-plus-interference (CNI) ratio, and thus minimize the influence of interfering signal sources operating within a coverage region of the MAPA antenna.

  • Patent number: 5845704
Abstract: An improved heat exchanger in which a housing defines an annular space containing coolant and a tube for carrying working fluid through the coolant. On the top end of the casing there is a cover that seals the annular space and provides entry and exit portals for the tube and the coolant. Maintenance and/or cleaning of the heat exchanger is accomplished by removing the cover and pulling the tube from the annular space. Baffles formed from flexible sheets of material isolate the surface of the coil from the housing thereby reducing corrosive bonding and easing the removal process. Tapered edges along the annular space also help overcome any binding that might occur between the housing and the coil or the baffles.
