  • Patent number: 11913273
Abstract: Motorized door assemblies having a door pivoting about a pivot axis extending across opposing jambs. In one aspect, the assembly includes a motor assembly having a motor, drive gears, slip clutch, and driven shaft connected to the door to pivot it about the pivot axis. The slip clutch includes a clutch plate slideable along the driven shaft, a drive plate driven by the motor via the drive gears, and a clutch spring urging the clutch plate into engagement with the drive plate, where the clutch and drive plates have profiled and counter-profiled faces. In another aspect, a break beam emitter and receiver are mounted to respective ones of the opposing jambs along a beam axis extending parallel to the pivot axis and proximate to an edge of the door opposite the pivot axis. • Publication number: 20170311554
Abstract: A lighting device and assembly which incorporating an independently powered array of at least two types of LED lights that each give off specific wavelengths of light for growing plants. The assembly includes at least two of the lighting devices in conjunction with at least one high intensity bulb commonly used for indoor horticulture, where the assembly is adjustable for dimensional changes in the subject plants as they grow. A timing method for applying specific durations of each type of light which effectively simulate sunrise, daylight and sunset by allowing the plant to awaken naturally, absorb more light during the day and prepare for sleep at night, giving the plant more rest—all leading to more healthy plant growth.

  • Publication number: 20140339161
Abstract: A system for ultrafiltration employs a crossflow filtration module for extracting a fraction from a sample fluid (e.g., blood) and a recirculating permeate loop to produce a concurrent permeate flow through the filtration module to maintain a positive transmembrane pressure at all points of the crossflow filter. Permeate in the recirculating loop is enriched by a processing module and stabilized by removing an enriched fraction thereof. In an embodiment, the enriched fraction is concentrated plasma that is returned to a patient.

  • Publication number: 20130262069
Abstract: Targeted site selection determines the best hydrocarbon producing locations within areas of highest hydrocarbon reserves of a resource play. The best hydrocarbon production locations are selected within an area of favorable conditions for resource production based on source rock and reservoir properties. Risking of hydrocarbon production and productivity includes Monte Carlo simulations of a shale gas production model for targeted sites using probability distributions for petroleum systems model parameters, well parameters, and project parameters. Cumulative probability of recoverable hydrocarbons for the portfolio of targeted hydrocarbon production locations allows the high-grading of areas of greatest potential within the resource play.

  • Patent number: 8266002
Abstract: A system to facilitate the interaction of a group of buyers and a group of sellers through a transaction network, such as the internet, is disclosed. A buyer may start a buying group or join an existing group for purchasing a product or service. During the life cycle of a buying group, buyers are encouraged to invite other buyers to join the group via email, blog, social networking websites, or other means, thereby increasing the purchasing power of that group. Once a buying group has been established, sellers can compete for the volume sale. Sellers may review the bid price submitted by other sellers and submit competing bids. Once the bid cycle closes this system will automatically match the buyers and sellers based on a variety of factors including the order each buyer entered his or her purchase intent, each buyer's maximum price, each seller's bidding price, the quantity each seller can provide, and the order of each seller's bid.

  • Patent number: 7527602
Abstract: A tennis elbow support comprising a main body having an opening and a tendon pad having a pad base and a raised portion that projects from the pad base. The tendon pad is inserted into the opening so that the raised portion projects outwardly from a bottom surface of the main body. The main body can be releasably secured in a substantially circular configuration so that the support can be placed around the forearm of a user and the tennis elbow support can be tightened around the arm of the user with tendon pad in contact with the arm so that straight-line pressure is applied across the extensor muscle and tendon.

  • Publication number: 20080009780
Abstract: The present invention is directed to devices, systems and methods for removing undesirable materials from a sample fluid by contact with a second fluid. The sample fluid flows as a thin layer adjacent to, or between, concurrently flowing layers of the second fluid, without an intervening membrane. In various embodiments, a secondary separator is used to restrict the removal of desirable substances and effect the removal of undesirable substances from blood. The invention is useful in a variety of situations where a sample fluid is to be purified via a diffusion mechanism against an extractor fluid. Moreover, the invention may be used for the removal of components from a sample fluid that vary in size. When blood is the sample fluid, for example, this may include the removal of ‘small’ molecules, ‘middle’ molecules, macromolecules, macromolecular aggregates, and cells, from the blood sample to the extractor fluid.

  • Publication number: 20070270329
Abstract: Pure peptide products, derived from either human glioma cell line U-105MG or human peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes are provided; the products have a molecular mass of about 8,400 daltons, and the products exhibit optimal monocyte chemotactic activity at a concentration of 1 nM. The cloning of full length cDNA for the peptide products is also provided, as well as recombinant methods for the production of monocyte chemoattractant products. Methods of treating infection and neoplasms in a human body with such peptides and monocyte chemoattractant products are additionally provided, as well as pharmaceutical compositions for the same.

  • Publication number: 20050085916
Abstract: A prosthetic nucleus pulposus for replacing the natural nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disc. The prosthetic nucleus proposus comprises a partially collapsed sealed envelope formed from a material which is permeable to extracellular body fluid. The envelope contains a solute which provides an osmotic potential across the walls of the envelope. In use, the partially collapsed envelope is surgically implanted in the hallowed-out interior of an intervertebral disc and is allowed to absorb fluid, whereby expansion of the envelope and subsequent disc expansion is accomplished.
