  • Publication number: 20190070983
Abstract: An apparatus for adapting an adult three-point seatbelt of a vehicle for safe and secure usage by an occupant such as a child, the seatbelt being of the ubiquitous type that comprises a tensioned belt wound on a drum that extends from above shoulder height of an adult occupant of a seat, to an anchor point connected to chassis of vehicle, and a clasp attached to the chassis on an opposite side of an occupant of the seat from the anchor point, such that the belt may be drawn downwards and across an occupant to engage the clasp, thereby restraining the occupant with both a sash section and a lap section of the seatbelt. The apparatus comprises a guide for the sash section of the seat belt that is fixed to a seat and sideways adjustable with respect to the occupant sitting on the seat, the sash guide for engaging the sash section above a shoulder of the occupant at a sideways position to ensure that said sash section runs over shoulder of the occupant in an optimal position for both comfort and safety.

  • Publication number: 20150123849
Abstract: An aircraft avionics system and method for automatically determining an aircraft position. The system and method determine distances to UAT or SSR ground stations. The system and method then determine the position of an aircraft by determining true bearings to SSR or UAT ground stations and determining the possible positions for the aircraft at which the aircraft is at respective bearings to each SSR or UAT ground station. An alternative system and method may determine distances based on timing signals in transmissions from the ground stations and determine one or more possible positions for the aircraft at which the aircraft is at the determined distances from respective ground stations. The system and method also may use dead reckoning or VOR or ADF signals to reduce the possible positions for the aircraft to a single possible position.

  • Patent number: 8855906
Abstract: An aircraft traffic alert system that minimizes false alarms and unnecessary alerts by automatically adjusting the sensitivity of the system based on proximity to an airport. The system also can use information from a flight management system (FMS) or GPS navigation system (GNS) to only adjust the sensitivity near a destination airport and to suppress potential alerts for possible collisions with other aircraft that will be moot based on planned course changes of the subject aircraft. The system also can suppress alerts related to another aircraft when the other aircraft is landing on a parallel runway to the runway on which the subject aircraft is landing. The system may use multiple sensitivity levels based on different airspace classes, each class being associated with a different sensitivity level.

  • Patent number: 8315876
Abstract: A headset includes a voice print match application or speech recognition application. The voice print match application receives a user speech corresponding to a submitted voice print phrase key upon determining a donned condition, where the user speech is compared to the predetermined voice print phrase key to validate an identity of the headset user. The speech recognition application receives a user speech corresponding to a password or PIN and recognizes the password or PIN. The recognized password or PIN is compared to a valid password or PIN to validate the identity of the headset user.

  • Publication number: 20070206435
Abstract: A mixing reactor for mixing efficiently streams of fluids of differing densities. In a preferred embodiment, one of the fluids is supercritical water, and the other is an aqueous salt solution. Thus, the reactor enables the production of metal oxide nanoparticles as a continuous process, without any risk of the reactor blocking due to the inefficient mixing inherent in existing reactor designs.

  • Patent number: 6996564
Abstract: A system and method for providing an Internet user that has no pre-conceived notion of the specific subject matter he or she wishes to initially view, with a graphical user interface which assists the user in locating a web site of interest by first displaying a variety of general categories, each corresponding to a plurality of content-related web sites, and gradually guiding the user to a web page of interest. The system allows an Internet user to review information that has been acquired solely to stimulate their imagination. The invention utilizes an “Imagination Guide”, which presents, on the use's computer screen, a plurality of subject category headings, each heading identifying a unique area of interest. The user can select a preferred language, and is then presented by the list of subject categories corresponding to the selected language.
