Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming a specialty food product, such as a fortune cookie wherein a flat, flexible cake, after being cooked, is placed on a first, flat, fixed surface and is shifted by continuously moving pins over the first surface and onto a second, flat fixed surface having a slot therethough. A continuously moving suction device removes a strip of paper from a stack and places the strip on the cake on the second surface and forces the cake into the slot to fold the same about a first axis until the cake halves formed by the fold are generally parallel with each other. As the folded cake moves downwardly in the slot, a pair of continuously rotating arms engage respective ends of the cake and fold it about a second axis which is substantially perpendicular to and slightly below the first axis.
