  • Patent number: 10274876
Abstract: A fusing apparatus includes a substrate having a first surface and a second surface, the second surface being opposite the first surface on the substrate, a first resistive trace and a second resistive trace, the first and second resistive traces being disposed adjacent each other along the first surface of the substrate in a length-wise direction thereof. A resistance of the first resistive trace is less than a resistance of the second resistive trace.

  • Patent number: 10140766
Abstract: A method of generating an internally consistent model of the state of a book captured in a video image is provided. The method comprises obtaining a plurality of pieces of evidence relating to the state of a corresponding plurality of aspects of the book in the video image, associating a quality score with each piece of evidence, generating an initial model of the state of the book wherein the state of the book is constrained by physical properties of the book and at least the highest scoring piece of evidence, and sequentially constraining the model in response to one or more successive pieces of evidence whose scores meet a respective predetermined first threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9709932
Abstract: A fuser assembly for an electrophotographic imaging device, the fuser assembly including an integrated circuit chip having memory which has stored therein attribute data. The memory provides the attribute data for use in controlling the fuser assembly during fusing operations throughout the life of the fuser assembly. The attribute data includes a table of values corresponding to fusing temperatures for the fuser assembly, the fusing temperatures decreasing throughout the life of the fuser assembly to account for aging or wear of at least one component of the fuser assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150086231
Abstract: A fuser assembly for an electrophotographic imaging device includes a heater including a substrate, a resistive trace disposed and running along a length of the substrate for generating heat for fusing toner to a sheet of media when a current is passed therethrough, and at least three conductors for passing current through the resistive trace. The at least three conductors include a first conductor connected to a first end portion of the resistive trace, a second conductor connected to a second end portion of the resistive trace, and a third conductor connected to the resistive trace at a location between the first end portion and the second end portion thereof. A temperature sensor senses a temperature of an edge segment of the substrate. Based upon the temperature sensed, circuitry selects between the first conductor and the third conductor for passing current through the resistive trace.

  • Publication number: 20120147246
Abstract: Techniques for use in an electronic device which includes a camera module for producing photographic images are described. An input request for capturing a photographic image is detected via a user interface of the electronic device. In response to detecting the input request, a photographic image is captured via the camera lens using the camera module, and the captured photographic image is produced in a visual display. In addition, a zoomed-in portion of the image is produced in the visual display, simultaneously with the display of the image. The zoomed-in portion of the image may be a picture-in-picture (PIP) window or virtual magnifying glass window overlaid with the image, for example. The image may include a blur characteristic which is only visually apparent from the zoomed-in portion of the image, in which case the image may be manually deleted by the user so that another photographic image may be captured.

  • Patent number: 8133933
Abstract: Phenolic resin binder systems for sand molds, used in metal casting, which improve the quality of thermally reclaimed sand, are described. The substantial or complete elimination of calcium compounds (e.g., calcium stearate and calcium hydroxide, conventionally employed as a mold lubricant and a resin curing catalyst, respectively) allows the thermally reclaimed sand to be reused over multiple thermal reclamation cycles without the adverse effects previously encountered.

  • Publication number: 20090188178
Abstract: An adjustable footing assembly comprising a footing member including a base element and a vertical element. The vertical element is connected to the base portion and the vertical element defines a bore therein. An elongate coupling member has a lower portion positionally adjustably situated within the bore of the vertical portion of said footing member and an upper portion structured and arranged for connection to an end of a stair support member. Rotation of the elongate coupling member results in movement of the elongate coupling member vertically along a vertical axis of the bore.

  • Publication number: 20090080952
Abstract: A belt fuser assembly includes a housing, and a fuser belt rotatably mounted to the housing, with the fuser belt having a direction of rotation. A pivot body has a proximal portion pivotably mounted to the housing and has a first elongate member having a first distal end that extends from the proximal portion. The first elongate member has a width extending perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the fuser belt. The first distal end of the first elongate member has a smooth curved surface extending along the width for pressing against the fuser belt during a sheet jam occurring in the housing to prevent a sheet of media from wrapping around the fuser belt.
