Abstract: A protective shoe for use in contact sports of the martial arts comprising a unitary upper member constructed of a foam base defining an opening and side slits into which a foot can be inserted. An elastic strap provided with fasteners is secured to the upper member allowing the upper member to be attached around the ankle of the wearer. A sole is mounted to the bottom of the upper member to provide an enclosed toe area and an arch area with cutouts in the sole defining an open heel area and open ball of foot area. A protective instep pad and achilles tendon pad are secured to said upper member to give additional foot protection to the user.

Abstract: A protective headgear conforming to a person's head and capable of absorbing energy. The headgear is constructed of a base member of resilient foam and pad members are secured to the resilient foam. The entire headgear is covered with tough pliable surface casing. The headgear defines a front opening which is generally contoured and shaped to conform with the periphery of a person's eyes and extending downward along the cheek area to expose the chin and neck and two ear openings. A pair of cross members formed on the top of the headgear retain the headgear on a person's head and define ventilation openings.

Abstract: A sports glove for use in contact sports comprising a unitary molded body which is constructed with a wrist section, a hand section, and finger and thumb sections. An elastic strap with VELCRO fasteners is secured to the wrist section of the glove and is adapted to encircle the glove so that the strap can be fastened around the wrist portion, holding the wrist portion of the glove around the hand of the wearer. A reinforced thumb member is secured to the thumb section to form a thumb enclosure and a reinforced finger member is secured to the hand section of the glove to form a finger enclosure. A protective pad is secured to the back of the hand portion of the glove covering the ridge bones of the hand and the unitary molded body, thumb member, finger member and protective pad are covered by a smooth uniform plastic coating.
