  • Patent number: 4819183
Abstract: A computer-controlled aircraft fuel loading management system is disclosed. The system measures fuel loading volumetrically using flow meter devices and gravimetrically using information relating to the density (specific gravity) of the fuel being loaded entered prior to a fuel loading operation, changes in the temperature of the fuel being loaded and stored information relating to the densities (specific gravities) of a number of fuels and changes thereto with temperature which are derived from American Petroleum Institute information. The system automatically computes and displays the distribution of fuel by tank from stored aircraft tank and fuel load distribution information derived from aircraft manufacturer information. The system also converts a total fuel volume as measured by the system to a standardized fuel volume normalized to a given temperature, for example 60.degree. F.

  • Patent number: 3974336
Abstract: A system of removing quantizing noise signals between words of an infinite-clipping speech system is disclosed.Speech signals are quantized in amplitude and in time without substantial loss of intelligibility. The speech signal and a square-wave squelch signal of relatively high frequency are added together, and the sum is amplified, clipped and quantized in time. Timing information from the quantized signal is used to detect the presence of the squelch signal. This information, together with the quantized signal is fed to a tri-level signal generator which generates a high output signal level when the speech signal is high, a low output signal level when the speech signal is low, and a zero level signal when the squelch signal is present, thereby removing all noise signals between words.

  • Patent number: 3956071
Abstract: An apparatus for removing vaporizable impurities from lubricating oil, or the like, including: a housing; an oil inlet fitting adjacent the top of and communicating with the housing, such fitting having a downwardly directed, intermediate inlet port, laterally and downwardly directed side inlet ports on opposite sides of the intermediate port, and an external groove interconnecting the side and intermediate ports; an electrical heating element below the intermediate port and having the form of a conical spiral with its larger end uppermost; and a ball in and supported by the upper end of the conical spiral in a position to have impinge thereon oil discharged by at least the intermediate port. The ball serves to distribute the oil impinging thereon uniformly over the inverted conical spiral. When the oil is cold, the external groove interconnecting the ports conducts virtually all of the oil onto the ball for distribution over the inverted conical spiral heating element.
