  • Publication number: 20120241571
Abstract: A connector system for connecting a medical device to a patient support device having first and second support members with a patient support panel disposed therebetween, wherein the connector system includes an anti-rotation arm connectably linked between the medical device and a support member connector connectable to the second support member. The anti-rotation arm is connected to the medical device in a manner that rotationally fixes the anti-rotation arm with the medical device with respect to rotation about the first support member for fixed rotational displacement with the medical device. In use, the anti-rotation arm rotationally fixes the medical device about the first support member.

  • Publication number: 20100163046
Abstract: A CPAP device and method are provided. The CPAP device includes an inspiratory reservoir, a positive pressure air source, and a pressurizing device. The inspiratory reservoir is fluidically connectable with at least one breathing orifice of a user. The positive pressure air source is fluidically connectable to the inspiratory reservoir. The pressurizing device is movable from a first position to a second position by releasing stored potential energy. During movement to the second position the pressurizing device applies a generally constant pressure to gas contained in the inspiratory reservoir. The pressurizing device is both movable towards the first position and augmentable in stored potential energy by pressure from exhalation air from the user.

  • Publication number: 20100101575
Abstract: A mask interface device is provided for a protective mask of the type having a mask filter and a mask expiratory port, the mask expiratory port having an expiratory port valve of the type that is normally closed and openable upon expiration, the mask filter having an inspiratory air inlet, the mask interface device comprising: a mask interface assembly mountable to the mask and having a mounting interface for mounting an air pressure generator in fluid communication with the inspiratory inlet of the mask filter; and an expiratory port interface assembly mountable to the mask expiratory port and comprising at least one opening for venting expired gas to atmosphere and a one-way valve that is positioned to control the flow of expired gas out through the at least one opening, and wherein the one-way valve is set to an opening pressure that provides positive end expiratory pressure or PEEP. Optionally, this opening pressure is between 2.5 and 20 cm H2O.

  • Patent number: 7112788
Abstract: An apparatus for separating ions includes providing a FAIMS analyzer region defined by a space between a first electrode surface and a second electrode surface and extending between an ion inlet end and an ion outlet end. An asymmetric waveform is applied to the first electrode surface and a compensation voltage difference is applied between the first and second electrode surfaces. An output signal is provided from a temperature sensor, the output signal relating to a temperature within the FAIMS analyzer region. In dependence upon the output signal, the temperature within the FAIMS analyzer region is controllably affected. The apparatus supports operation of FAIMS at temperatures different from the temperature of other components in a tandem multi-stage system, and supports the stable operation of FAIMS at different temperatures which increases the separation capability of FAIMS.
