  • Patent number: 4289682
Abstract: Described herein is a curable resin composition comprising a homogeneous mixture of a hydroxyl-terminated unsaturated polyester oligomer, a polyisocyanate, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and a polyurethane forming catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 26, 1979
Date of Patent: September 15, 1981
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
    Inventor: Edward N. Peters
  • Patent number: 4255319
Abstract: A polymeric composition comprising a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer, elemental red phosphorus and an aldehyde or .beta.-carbonyl-containing ketone, or mixtures thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 1978
Date of Patent: March 10, 1981
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
    Inventor: Edward N. Peters
  • Patent number: 4235987
Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing carborane-siloxane polymers directly from carborane which comprises reacting and polymerizing a dilithio salt of a carborane with a bis-halo-ended siloxane. This novel method offers the advantage of eliminating the expensive and time-consuming preparation of certain monomer intermediates of carborane employed in the preparation of carborane-siloxane polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 4, 1979
Date of Patent: November 25, 1980
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
    Inventor: Edward N. Peters
  • Patent number: 4208492
Abstract: Elastomeric high molecular weight alternating and random block copolymers are disclosed which comprise blocks of a soft carborane-siloxane elastomer and blocks of a high performance rigid polymer. Methods for preparing such block copolymers are also disclosed. These copolymers exhibit the advantages of high temperature elastomers while allowing the use of conventional thermoplastic fabrication techniques.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 1977
Date of Patent: June 17, 1980
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
