  • Patent number: 7810087
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and computer instructions are provided for inserting code fixes into applications at runtime. One aspect of the present invention leverages capability of a just-in-time-instrumentation monitoring component to receive a code fix during execution of applications and insert code fixes into applications. Another aspect of the present invention allows users to create a custom class loader that loads a custom class at runtime. The custom class loader then inserts the custom class in the applications. With the aspects of the present invention, code fixes and patches may be applied to applications without taking the applications down.

  • Patent number: 7769731
Abstract: A method and data processing system for using file backup software to generate an alert when a file modification policy is violated. File backup software is installed on a computer to monitor a plurality of files. If the file backup software detects a modification to a file, the file backup software determines whether a file modification policy associated with the file has been violated. If the file backup software determines that the file modification policy has been violated, the file backup software generates an alert, indicating that the modification violates the modification policy.

  • Publication number: 20100133295
Abstract: Material dispensing systems and methods for make such systems are described. The material dispensing systems employ a collapsible container that is at least partially surrounded by an elastically deformable band. The band stretches as the container is filled with a flowable composition, thereby creating potential energy which can then be used to dispense the composition in lieu of a propellant and/or pressurized container.

  • Publication number: 20100133301
Abstract: A valve having a sleeve comprising a sleeve wall including an inner surface; and a plug positioned within the sleeve, the plug comprising at least one portion that is elastically deformable. The plug forms a blind hole extending into the plug from one end thereof to define a plug side wall, and a flow passage that extends through the plug side wall that is either open or openable. The plug defines a valve closed position in an unstressed state, yet is capable of elastically deforming to define a flow channel between the plug and the sleeve in a valve open position. A dispenser containing such a valve is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100133294
Abstract: Material dispensing systems and methods for make such systems are described. The material dispensing systems employ a collapsible container having at least two distinct chambers, and is at least partially surrounded by an elastically deformable band. The band stretches as the container is filled with a flowable composition, thereby creating potential energy which can then be used to dispense the composition in lieu of a propellant and/or pressurized container.

  • Patent number: 7720819
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting file data is provided that combines or merges revision based backup with backup based on time intervals. One embodiment is directed to a method for protecting data contained in a file of a computer system, wherein the computer system is useable to create multiple successive file versions. The method comprises the steps of specifying a maximum number of file versions that can be stored collectively at first and second storage locations, and apportioning the maximum number into a first number of file versions and a second number of file versions. The method further comprises storing the most recent of the multiple file versions, up to a number equal to the first number, at the first storage location. A number of file versions respectively created before the stored most recent versions, up to a number equal to the second number, are stored at the second storage location, over a pre-specified time period and in accordance with a pre-specified strategy.

  • Publication number: 20100115612
Abstract: Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for providing context-based user authentication, workflow processing and data management in a centralized application in communication with a plurality of third-party applications. Changed data from a first third-party application is received by a centralized application. The changed data is processed by the centralized application. The processing comprises determining an urgency type, a second third-party application to which at least a portion of the data is applicable, mapping the data to a second third-party application data structure, and generating a request including the data structure and based on the urgency type and the second third-party application. The request is sent to the second third-party application. Data in a database associated with the centralized application is updated based on the changed data.

  • Patent number: 7284334
Abstract: A geometrical layout tool and method for locating a plurality of target points spaced apart over a particular area from a single reference point located within that area which is defined by the intersection of mutually perpendicular lines. A template placed over these lines has a central opening at the intersection and indicia at its periphery which register respectively with the lines. A center anchoring pin holds the template against movement, and a target line indicator is rotatably adjustable about the pin for alignment with a selected target point. A chalk line and tape measure or a laser may be mounted on the pin to make direction and distance determinations of the selected target point from the reference point.

  • Publication number: 20050023065
Abstract: An occupant weight sensor (1) for placement between a frame (7) fixed to the chassis of a vehicle and a second frame (8) supporting a vehicle seat has a sense element having a first body (12, 22, 28, 34, 50, 62, 64, 68) formed with a planar sense surface on which are mounted piezoresistors electrically connected in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. A post (12a, 22c, 28c, 34e, 50b, 62a, 64a, 68b) extends outwardly from the first body for attachment to the first frame. A second body is formed with a force transfer portion (14a, 24g, 30d, 36b, 52a, 70a) permanently attached to the first body along an outer periphery circumscribing the sense surface. The piezoresistors are electrically connected to conditioning electronics received in a chamber formed between the two bodies. The effects of parasitic loads on the sense element are minimized by selected placement of the piezoresistors on the sense surface.
