Patent number: 8396719Abstract: A computer-implemented method is performed during a single communication session between a customer service representative (CSR) of a merchant, and the merchant's customer. The conversation between the CSR and the customer is analyzed to determine an issue. Previously collected information about the customer is accessed, from a database that stores information about customers of the merchant. A tip is determined and sent to be displayed to the CSR. The tip is determined based on the mood and the accessed previously collected information. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2010Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: j2 Global CommunicationsInventors: Edward Patrick, Nehemia Zucker, James Mason

Patent number: 8326930Abstract: A number of sets of recipients of an electronic messaging protocol message distribution campaign are identified. Each set can be one or more recipients. Scripting language is added to each message directed to a recipient. The added scripting language refers to a number of image objects/files that have been selected to form a compound image (when juxtaposed). The compound image is unique to one of the sets. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2004Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: j2 Global CommunicationsInventors: Edward Patrick, James Mason

Publication number: 20110072360Abstract: A computer implemented method is described. Data is collected about a number of member entities that have online interaction with a group entity. A predefined state is assigned to a selected one of the member entities automatically, in response to applying a predefined rule to analyze some of the collected data. The rule is defined in part by the group entity. The method automatically determines whether or not online content is to be delivered to the selected member entity, based on the assigned state. In another embodiment, online content that is to be delivered to the selected member entity is automatically personalized for the selected member entity, again based on the assigned state. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2010Publication date: March 24, 2011Applicant: j2 Global CommunicationsInventors: Edward Patrick, James Mason, Nehemia Zucker

Publication number: 20100219231Abstract: A method of connecting a straight tubular end to a flared tubular end includes locating a substantially annular braze ring substantially concentrically around the straight tubular end, inserting the straight tubular end into the flared tubular end so that the braze ring engages the flared tubular end, and heating the braze ring so that flux separates from an exterior channel of the braze ring and the separated flux from the exterior channel contacts at least one of a faying surface of the flared tubular end and a faying surface of the straight tubular end.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: TRANE INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Stuart Means, Richard Bogan, Edward Patrick

Publication number: 20100205103Abstract: A computer-implemented method is performed during an online chat session between a customer service representative (CSR) of a merchant, and the merchant's customer. Conversational text of the session is analyzed to determine a mood of the customer. Previously collected information about the customer is accessed, from a database that stores information about customers of the merchant. A tip is determined and sent to be displayed to the CSR. The tip is determined based on the mood and the accessed previously collected information. Publication number: 20090200363Abstract: A braze ring includes a generally annular body and an outer annular channel formed on an outer surface of the body. A method of connecting a straight tubular end to a flared tubular end includes locating a substantially annular braze ring substantially concentrically around the straight tubular end, inserting the straight tubular end into the flared tubular end so that the braze ring engages the flared tubular end, and heating the braze ring so that flux separates from an exterior channel of the braze ring and the separated flux from the exterior channel contacts at least one of a faying surface of the flared tubular end and a faying surface of the straight tubular end. Another braze ring includes a body having a substantially symmetric cross-sectional shape forming an inner channel and an outer channel and flux carried within each of the inner channel and the outer channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2009Publication date: August 13, 2009Applicant: Trane International Inc.Inventors: Stuart Means, Richard Bogan, Edward Patrick

Patent number: 5532886Abstract: A data smoother for a streaming cartridge tape drive including a data separator circuit for generating a clock signal and a second phase-locked loop circuit for removing frequency modulation arising from instantaneous speed variation (ISV) errors. The broad-band data separator follows all of the ISV generated by the cartridge tape drive to permit detection and correction of cell-slippage in a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) circuit, which accepts the data and clock signal from the data separator. The second PLL has a narrow bandwidth filter that smoothes the clock signal and removes all high-frequency ISV modulation from the data as it is clocked out from the FIFO circuit. The MFM data signal is regenerated by a monostable multivibrator in synchronism with the smoothed clock signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1992Date of Patent: July 2, 1996Assignee: Conner Peripherals, Inc.Inventors: William Buchan, Edward Patrick, M.
