  • Patent number: 8185611
Abstract: Streaming media, such as audio or video files, is sent via the Internet. The media are immediately played on a user's computer. Audio/video data is transmitted from the server more rapidly than it is played out by the user system. The audio/video data in the user buffer accumulates; and interruptions in playback as well as temporary modem delays are avoided.

  • Publication number: 20100241955
Abstract: Embodiments related to the manipulation of content items on a touch sensitive display are disclosed. One disclosed embodiment comprises a method for operating a graphical user interface on a computing device comprising a touch-sensitive display. The method comprises displaying a content container on the touch-sensitive display, the content container being configured to arrange one or more content items in the content container as a grouped set of content items and to allow a user to selectively move content items into and out of the content container. The method further comprises displaying an ungrouped set of content items on the touch-sensitive display outside of the content container, receiving a user input via a user interface associated with the content container, and in response to the user input, highlighting a content item in the ungrouped set of content items to form a highlighted ungrouped content item.

  • Publication number: 20100229129
Abstract: Embodiments related to the formation of an organizational container on a touch-sensitive graphical user interface are disclosed. One disclosed embodiment provides a method of forming an organizational container comprising receiving a touch gesture at the graphical user interface, the touch gesture defining a set of zero or more content items to be grouped together and further defining a region of the touch-sensitive graphical user interface. The method further comprises forming an organizational container responsive to receiving the touch gesture at the touch-sensitive graphical user interface, presenting a boundary defining the organizational container, moving the set of content items into the organizational container, and presenting the set of content items arranged within the boundary according to an organized view.

  • Publication number: 20070222299
Abstract: A number of wave correction filters are disclosed which respond to power surges or spikes outside the intended frequency and/or voltage for a load device. The circuits respond to such undesired frequencies and voltage levels by sensing and separating them from the desired voltage and frequencies and connecting the energy from such undesired voltages and/or frequencies to resistors where it is dissipated as heat. In this way, the resulting energy is prevented from distorting the input voltage to the load device. It is also retained in the filter and prevented from traveling through a ground connection to pollute other related circuits.

  • Publication number: 20070184553
Abstract: A method for automatically regulating and measuring pressure as volatile substances in headspace gas are sampled and then quantitatively or qualitatively analyzed is disclosed. According to various embodiments, the method comprises vials that are automatically sampled by a headspace sampling instrument; the static pressure of the vials is automatically measured and recorded; the vials are automatically pressurized to a predetermined pressure that is greater than the static pressure; and the headspace gas is automatically allowed to flow into a sample loop of the headspace sampling instrument for subsequent qualitative or quantitative analysis. Multiple vials with varying static pressures may also be automatically measured, recorded and individually pressurized on a vial-by-vial basis as the headspace gas from each is automatically sampled and analyzed.

  • Publication number: 20050015265
Abstract: An extended manufacturing environment can receive, at a manufacturer's server, a communication from a customer of the manufacturer, automatically process the communication, and automatically transmit an order for supplies to a supplier of the supplies. The supplies, which are needed by the manufacturer to manufacture at least one product for the customer, can be directly ordered by the customer, without the customer having to wait for the manufacturer's approval.

  • Patent number: 6112224
Abstract: A patient monitoring system for use in a telemedicine system that allows multiple medical devices to communicate with a control unit via an interface that uses a single interrupt. In architecture, the system can be implemented in hardware, or a combination of hardware and software, and is more particularly implemented as follows: A plurality of medical devices are connected to a control unit via a device interface that uses a single interrupt in the transmission of data from the medical devices to the control unit. When a medical device has data to transmit to the control unit, the medical device transmits data to the device interface, and the device interface uses its single interrupt line in the transmission of data to the control unit.

  • Patent number: 5987519
Abstract: The present invention provides a packet-based telemedicine system for communicating video, voice and medical data between a central monitoring station and a patient monitoring station which is remotely-located with respect to the central monitoring station. The patient monitoring station obtains digital video, voice and medical measurement data from a patient and encapsulates the data in packets and sends the packets over a network to the central monitoring station. Since the information is encapsulated in packets, the information can be sent over multiple types or combinations of network architectures, including a Community access Television (CATV) network, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), the Internet, a local area network (LAN), a wide are network (WAN), over a wireless communications network, or over an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. Thus, a separate transmission protocol is not required for each different type of transmission media.
