  • Patent number: 5153540
Abstract: A planar filter array includes a single monolithic alumina substrate having a plurality of counter bores on each side connected by central bores to form passages for insertion of connector pin contacts. The connecting bores contain ferrite beads and the counter bores contain discoidal capacitors which sandwich the ferrite beads to form pi filter circuits for filtering the pin contacts. Grounding electrodes on the discoidal capacitors are soldered to a grounding layer or traces on the substrate to provide a ground path for the fiters.

  • Patent number: 4768977
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly having means for protecting its contacts from adverse voltage surges includes protectively terminating one terminal of a silicon diode within a notch formed in the contact and the other terminal with a conductive sleeve encircling the contact body but spaced therefrom. The conductive sleeve is in releasable engagement with a plurality of conductive spring fingers which are integral with a conductive grounding plate whereby a ground path is established between the connector shell and the contact without stressing the diode or its terminations.

  • Patent number: 4583810
Abstract: This invention relates to electrical connectors used between bulkheads and more specifically to a hermetically sealed connector having a removably mounted electrical filter assembly (10). The connector is characterized by a metal connector shell (1) having a plurality of electrical contacts (2) hermetically sealed (3) and mounted within the shell (1), and an electrical filter assembly (10) removably mounted (4, 5a, 11) and electrically connected to at least one of the contacts (2) and shell (1).

  • Patent number: 4440463
Abstract: An electrical connector having a plated plastic grounding insert (12) providing an electrical connection from a grounding electrode (18) to the connector shell (14) the ground insert (12) including integral spring fins (22) extending diposed about the periphery of the insert and extending from a rear face thereof compressibly received within a bore (26) in the connector shell (14). Grounding towers (30) are also formed integrally with the grounding insert (12), including a generally conical proturbance (30) extending from the front face of the insert with slots (32) providing resiliency for friction engagement of the grounding electrode (18). The grounding insert (12) and contacts (16) are supported by encapsulating material (36, 38) disposed on either side of the insert (12). The insert (12) is coated with a cnductive layer such as metallic silver to enable establishment of the electrical connections.

  • Patent number: 4264116
Abstract: A filter connector is disclosed with an adaptor member (14) which permits removal and replacement of the filter connector member (10) without individually disconnecting and reconnecting the wires (16). The filter connector member (10) is provided with a plurality of filter contacts (22) each having a mating end (pin 26) at the forward end and a mating end (pin 28) at the rear end. A filterless connector member (12) includes plural filterless contacts each having a wire receiving end (74) and a mating end (socket 72) adapted to mate with the pin (26) of the corresponding filter contact (22). An adaptor member (14) includes a plurality of filterless contacts (42) each having a wire receiving end (90) and having a mating end (socket 88) adapted to mate with the pin (28). The filterless contacts (42) in the adaptor (14) are individually removable and replaceable in the event of a malfunction in these contacts.
