  • Patent number: 7957222
Abstract: A method for wireless communication in a seismic sensor network is disclosed. The method comprises providing a first acoustic device having at least one seismic sensor with communication and control data to communicate over an acoustic energy wave on a first communications channel. The first acoustic device generates the acoustic energy wave with a first wave intensity. The first acoustic device is configured to receive a reflection of the generated wave at a prescribed signal sensitivity level based on a network configuration. If the first wave intensity is below the prescribed signal sensitivity level, the first wave intensity of the acoustic energy wave is tuned to the prescribed signal sensitivity level to interpret the communication and control data provided by the first communications channel.

  • Patent number: 7952961
Abstract: A method for tracking motion using an audio compass is disclosed. The method comprises receiving motion sensor data indicating seismic activity recorded by at least two seismic sensors, and converting the received motion sensor data into audio signals for interpretation at an audio compass. The method uses the audio compass to determine a current distance to the seismic activity based on an interpreted signal intensity of the audio signals. The method further uses the audio compass to identify a current position of the audio compass relative to the seismic activity.

  • Publication number: 20090257475
Abstract: system and method for secure communication of collected amphibious data is disclosed, which uses direct-sequence, spread spectrum, ultra wideband (DS-SS UWB) communications to enhance the security of the collected amphibious data during transmission over a wireless communication link. The UWB technique used transmits the collected data using very short pulses with low duty cycles. Thus, the power of the transmitted signals can be distributed evenly over a large bandwidth, and buried within the environmental noise (below the noise floor) to produce “stealth” transmissions. The transmitted signals can also be encrypted, which provides a wireless data communication transmission that is immune from jamming and masked from eavesdropping attempts. As one example, a system for secure communication of collected amphibious data is disclosed, which includes a DS-SS UWB transmitter and receiver.

  • Patent number: 7415622
Abstract: An adaptive digital power control system is disclosed, which implements a digitally controlled, near real-time algorithm to accommodate multiple loop current mode controls for low voltage, high performance computing system power needs. For example, an adaptive digital power control system that is implemented with an FPGA to generate low voltages for high performance computing systems is disclosed, which includes a current and voltage loop compensation algorithm that enables the adaptive digital power control system to dynamically compensate for high current transients and EMI-related noise. The current and voltage loop compensation algorithm uses a combination of linear predictive coding and Kalman filtering techniques to provide dynamic current and voltage compensation, and implement a feed-forward technique using knowledge of the power system's output parameters to adequately adapt to the system's compensation needs.
