  • Publication number: 20080097938
Abstract: The data mining platform comprises a plurality of system modules, each formed from a plurality of components. Each module has an input data component, a data analysis engine for processing the input data, an output data component for outputting the results of the data analysis, and a web server to access and monitor the other modules within the unit and to provide communication to other units. Each module processes a different type of data, for example, a first module processes microarray (gene expression) data while a second module processes biomedical literature on the Internet for information supporting relationships between genes and diseases and gene functionality. In the preferred embodiment, the data analysis engine is a kernel-based learning machine, and in particular, one or more support vector machines (SVMs).

  • Publication number: 20070149937
Abstract: A chlorine free disposable diaper has a main body having an open top area through which a body of an individual wearing the diaper is positioned and a pair of side openings. An individual side opening is formed on opposing side surfaces of the main body for positioning a leg of the individual wearing the diaper. The main body has a multi-layered diaper assembly. The multi-layered diaper assembly has an exterior layer comprising a non-woven material having a planar, soft, cloth-like surface layer. A core layer is provided and is made of non-chlorine bleached material for holding waste materials within the disposable diaper. A containment layer is coupled to a first side and a second side of the core layer. The containment layer is used for containing the waste material in the core layer and away from skin of a wearer. A distribution layer is coupled to the containment layer. The distribution layer is used for evenly distributing waste material to the core layer.

  • Publication number: 20030187414
Abstract: A disposable diaper has a multi-layered diaper assembly. The disposable diaper has a first top surface exterior layer assembly comprising a non-woven material having a planar, soft, cloth-like surface layer. A second layer is provided and consists of non-chlorine bleached wood pulp. A third layer is provided having a top surface portion in contact with a bottom surface portion of the second layer. A fourth bottom surface interior layer is provided in contact with a bottom surface portion of the third layer and comprising a non-woven liquid permeable material having a planar, soft, cloth-like body contact surface portion.

  • Patent number: 5743895
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved disposable diaper and method therefor. The disposable diaper achieves significant fluid absorbency through a wadding batt layer consisting solely of a combination of wood pulp and cotton pulp, rather than through a wadding batt layer comprising wood pulp and a superabsorbent polymer. In this fashion, the disposable diaper minimizes skin irritation that may be caused during rewetting when body waste fluids contacting the superabsorbent polymers carry a portion thereof back out through the diapers into contact with the skins of babies or children using the diapers. The disposable diaper also minimizes skin irritation caused when both the exterior portion of a diaper contacts a child's skin or the skin of a person touching the diaper, by the use of an outer and inner surface layer of a soft, cloth-like, non-woven bond material such as polyester.
