  • Patent number: 5441773
Abstract: A black, no-rinse conversion coating on metal surfaces is provided. The treatment of a metal such as aluminum or aluminum alloys with a composition of hexavalent chromium, a modified styrene acrylic resin, carbon black thickeners, surfactants and coalescents results in a black no-rinse conversion coating. The black coating provides corrosion resistance and is resistant to gasoline, hot oil and ethylene glycol. The coating solution is particularly effective on complex shapes having closely spaced parts such as automotive radiators or condensers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 1994

    Assignee: Betz Laboratories, Inc.
    Inventor: Edward A. Rodzewich
  • Patent number: 5441572
Abstract: A method and composition for cleaning aluminum surfaces is disclosed. The surfaces are contacted with a treatment comprising potassium hydroxide, a silicate compound and an alkyl imino acid surfactant.

  • Patent number: 5354494
Abstract: Processes for enhancing the drainage of residual aqueous rinse from the external surfaces of plastic parts, such as auto fascia, are disclosed. The processes employ an aqueous solution of an amine functional silane compound, which when applied to the surfaces of plastic parts will not rinse off during subsequent rinse stages and will remain on the plastic parts.
