  • Publication number: 20060161049
Abstract: A device for retracting edges of an incision in a surface to form an opening including: a flexible, tubular skirt having an upper end, a lower end, and a channel therebetween; a ring connected to the lower end of the skirt for maintaining the lower end in an open configuration and defining an exit opening to the channel; and an inflatable collar connected to the skirt and surrounding the upper end. The ring is designed to fit through the incision and remain under the surface when it is oriented parallel to surface. The collar, when inflated, maintains the upper end in an open configuration and defines an entry opening to the channel. During use, the ring is inserted through the incision and the collar is inflated while remaining outside of the incision, thereby drawing the skirt against the edges of the incision and retracting the edges of the incision to form the opening.

  • Publication number: 20050126925
Abstract: A drive head for a bolt, fastener, coupling, nut or other driveable head made from a less malleable metal such as a powder metal nickel alloy. The drive head has an upper drive portion having at least six convex corners spaced around the outer periphery thereof, each corner terminating in an edge. The drive head also has a lower flange portion adjacent to the drive portion and having an edge extending radially outwardly to at least the edge of each corner. The drive portion and the flange portion of the drive head is formed by subjecting a blank having a generally circular head to electrochemical machining (ECM). A tool is also provided for the ECM method to form the drive portion and flange portion of the drive head.

  • Patent number: 6609633
Abstract: A thermoformed container is formed with a receptacle and a separate cover which is hingeably and detachably attached to the receptacle. The receptacle and cover each have a hinge flange with side skirt walls descending therefrom in which indentations are formed during the thermoforming process. The indentations on one of the cover or receptacle form pivot pins which seat in the sockets defined by the indentations on the other of the cover or the receptacle, defining an axis of rotation about which the cover can rotate with respect to the receptacle. The cover and receptacle can thus can be formed of different plastics or of plastics in which conventional integral living hinges can not be used. The pivot pin indentations are produced in the thermoforming process by forming pins which engage into the softened sheet at the side skirt walls. The plastic material cools and hardens to form sharply defined pivot pins.

  • Patent number: 5787627
Abstract: A picture frame and frame assembly are provided which preferably includes a transparent sheet defining picture covering, a picture positionally aligned adjacent the picture covering for viewing therethrough, and a backing sheet member positioned to underlie back portions of the picture and to support front portions of the picture against the picture covering, and a frame body integrally formed from a unitary piece of a soft, pliable material. The frame body of the invention preferably has a front portion which includes a first opening formed therein arranged for viewing a picture therethrough and a back portion which includes a second opening formed therein positionally aligned with the first opening. The second opening receives the picture covering, the picture, and the backing sheet member therein.
